For those of you familiar with Glen Onoko, here is a picture of the train station that used to be there. It was built to handle the tourists who would come to visit the Lehigh Gorge and surrounding areas. At the time in the late 1800s it receives as many visitors as Niagara Falls and was one of the most popular tourist destinations in the United States.

I always thought it was cool of Blue to pay homage to Carbon County's rich history with that trail name. Would be neat if there were more trail names along those lines...Maybe Coming Soon Will be called "Olympian" in honor of Jim Thorpe, or maybe "Zinc"?

Switchback Railways were the original names given to rollercoasters. The Mauch Chunk railway is widely credited with being the first modern rollercoaster, as most don’t count the Russian ice slides as being too different in concept and operation

“Strip Mining” “Fracking” “Environmental Destruction” “Meth Highway” “Super Fund” “Chestnut Ridge” or bring back “Shicola Chute”

Those Russian ice slides are cool.  I always thought it was neat how the Spanish word for "rollercoaster" is "Montaña Rusa" or "Russian Mountain".

its amazing how quiet amtrak trains that run on overhead canternary wires are.  you really cant hear the train coming until it is right in front of you.

You know what's not quiet? Diesel. You know who is stupid? These people: https://6abc.com/family-photo-shoot-almost-turns-deadly-/5970024/?fbclid=IwAR0ZLSfI8yKi86D9wCLOEwioqlRwABamvHMn-Aj4iMo-nm-P5v1SO2I1QSI
