Day 6 of 9

Hey all,

I'm done with another fun day at Jackson hole mountain resort. We managed the first civilian gondola today and were with the pilot guy we met last year and his younger friend who likes Mac and cheese and Grey poupon Dijon mustard. First run on amphitheater was so nice and a carpet that we skied it two more times. We then went over to Casper lift for a few groomers then up Teton lift for Teton run which is the beginning of the race course down to apres vous and the bottom of apres vous was cold...about 10 degrees and in frozen fog with titty sparkles falling. Only did one run over there and then made our way back across the mountain to Casper and then thunder lift. We skied down Laramie bowl from the thunder lift and atomic Jeff got some video of me and tickle me toast.

We then went up sublette and skied central chute which is oddly shaped bumps and some gnar and more pictures were taken. Then back to sublette and we went to Laramie bowl which was starting to get a bit soft near the top in the baking sun. Then up thunder for yet another amphitheater run which was still pretty decent but a good amount Of people. Up thunder again down grand which wasn't bad then we hit up the Hobacks. Fourth time for me skiing the hobacks this trip and I made it about 2/3 down before I had some pain above my ankles. No pow at all left some chalk some crust lots of bumps. Managed to bunny hop over some rocks near the entrance. For a fat guy I'm pretty light on my feel yes I'm an agile mofo. Then Union pass lift and a run to the mangy moose. Toast skied one final tram lap while we ordered food and beer.

Was a nice day skied 15 runs and nearly 30,000 vert and not even counting the Union pass lift as a run even though it technically is. I'm tired. When the bus gets back prob gonna take a nap. Then dinner tonight either at Bon Appe Thai or Bubbas BBQ. Tomorrow it's gonna be snowing. I'll add some pictures later

Today was a fun day ripping down groomers for the most part.  We skied central chute into Cheyenne Bowl and a Hobacks lap (which Toast did 2x).  Toast took a great picture of me railing some groomers off the Casper lift...I have some video I need to post as well.

Good day again. Low clouds/fog in the valley but most of our runs stayed above that which was sunny and warm. A lot of our runs were groomers today but ended with the Hobacks and then I took a tram run to what I thought was Cheyenne Gully but might have been Buffalo Bowl now that I'm looking at a map. Anyway, good day. Good weather. Possible early start to snow tomorrow. Not sure what will happen with my flight Saturday but if I'm stuck here another day it won't be the worst thing to happen.

Some pics.

~3" up top. Still lightly snowing. Not much down low and not snowing low either. Bumps in trees filled in nicely up top. The higher I get the more snow falls.

Riding solo right now.

Good 4th and final day at JH for me to end a quick little trip.

Got first gondola up with Jeff and s local guy. Doug got his skis in the slots but was too big to fit through the door so it shut and he was stuck going up the second one.

I don't remember many of the first few runs because I just followed them but at 10:45 Doug left and I skied a few runs with Jeff off of the new Teton lift. The trees were nice over there but the further you went the less snow there was. Light snow all morning. About 3" up top to start and tapered as you dropped.

Jeff left around 11:30 because of a nasty blister on his heal. I continued to ski until 2:10, grabbed a beer, and took the 2:30 bus back.

After Jeff left I skied Beaver Tooth trees down to Antelope Flats and the stash park. Took that to the base and hopped on the gondola. At the top of the gondy it started dumping snow.

Dropped down Ranger into Amphitheater and took that to the Thunder Lift. Rode that up. And dropped down Laramie bowl which was a bit crunchy at first but if you hugged skiers right it was nice and wind blown and filled in nicely.

Rode up Sublette and dropped right down Dog Face to hit Pepe's Run. Got to the start of that and decided that the Alta Chutes would be more fun. All of the chutes were closed until one from the end which I believe might have been Tower 3 Chute. Nobody had gone down it so I took it.

Dropped back down by the lift again and kept going until Lower Tram Line and took that back down to the tram. Waited about 5 minutes and then on my way back up to the top.

The snow continued and Rendezvous Bowl was filled in nicely but was windy and visibility was low. Still good turns. Rode that to Rendezvous Trail and hopped back in the Hobacks. Very few people were in here so far. North facing was the best since that's where the wind was blowing snow. For the first 1/3 of the way it was untracked bumps that were filled in and all mine.

After that I dropped down some super steep walls into Cheyenne Gully.

Took that down a bit and was able to traverse into the North Hobacks again and found another 100yard chute to drop back down into the gully.

Ended up taking the gully back to Union Pass and then back to the gondola. Rode that back up and took one last groomer run down Gros Ventre back down to the Mangy Moose. Grabbed a beer, took the bus, sitting here now. Going to hit the gym and pool shortly.

5-8" for town tonight. 10-12" overnight for the mountain. Hoping to be able to get out but if I'm stuck here at least I'll have some good turns.
