Ripped open a nasty blister on my heel, but glad Toast kept skiing and got some.  That first run down Amphitheater was so nice just floating on 3" of fresh pow.  7 days in...2 to go.  Snow on the way.  Hopefully going to end with a bang!

Didn't enjoy the skiing today after the first two runs..dust on crust in the woods low visibility and crowded and piles on the runs. Did 7 runs went back to town...went to Bubbas for lunch...bought new gloves..bought Jack Daniels and spicy party mix. 9 days in a row is a marathon after six solid days..doing my two hours today was a nice little rest and I'll be fresh as fuck for a foot or two of fresh tomorrow. All this time my pinkie toe has also been broken which hasn't helped things but oh well. Having fun. Seems like I've been here longer than a week.

Super guaranteed blister fix, square bandaid, med tape over top, then wrap the whole thing with duct. It works for touring it will definitely work for resort.

I have all the things required (in my room). I have crazy adhesive bandaid patches that stay on through multiple showers. I'll be fine for tomorrow.

 

I hate leaving Toast out there as I had plenty in the tank, but 7 days in new liners has taken its toll.

I should probably save this for when I post the good the bad and the ugly in a few days but for the last few days when I walked in my boots I felt something under my one foot but never fully investigated it and it didn't bug me when I was skiing..mainly when I took my skis off to go into a lodge or restaurant. Well turns out I had a penny in my boot. Shits wild. Now with the penny removed I'll be able to get sponsored by Teton gravity research or Patagucci or some other elite mountain sports lyfestyle company looking for new talent who can ski black diamond terrain. A shame I bought new gloves earlier because I will surely get Swany or DaKine as one of my sponsor. Shits big time.

 

 

They are calling for over a foot of new snow in the mountains. Based on the way it's snowing in town and the radar I believe that's conservative. Me and atomic Jeff are taking an uber early bus to the mountain tomorrow. We'll be there more than an hour before the mountains usual opening and I fully expect a delayed opening due to Avalanche control work. I thought I just heard an avalanche bomb go off but it was actually fireworks as it's the ceremonial start of the Purina dog sled race to Utah which seems to take place every year while I'm in Jackson hole. A shame the Baha Men couldn't make it here to perform their big hit from 16 years ago,"Who Let the Dogs Out".

I'm really happy you guys are having a great time. Was just forced to cancel Utah but perhaps next year I can ski Jackson with y'all to make up for this year.

In line for the Tram we will prob end up on second tram..bombs going off..rendezvous bowl should still have some untracked but our sights are set on the legendary Hobacks..then I figure gondola and tram lines will be insane so will work out way around from teewinot to apres vous to Teton lift to Casper to thunder to sublette. We've been in line for 15 minutes and already a full tram of people behind us.

Unfortunately Toast had to leave this AM, but I'm really glad he made the best of his trip here.  His first trip here was a whiteout for the duration, so finally getting to ski JH wall to wall in good visibility was awesome.  I'm glad he had a great time.

 

The report was for 17" when I woke up around 6am.  That, combined with the fact that it's Saturday, we knew it was going to be a fucking zoo.  We took the 7:15am town bus (which was 100% packed with skiers) into Teton Village, arriving around 7:45am.  The tram line was surprisingly short.  At worst, second civilian box.  30 minutes later, it was a 4-5 tram wait.  9am came and went with the annoucement of a delayed opening.  Probably 7-8 tram wait by then.  Around 9:25am Apres Vous opened up, so we knew it wasn't going to be an insane delayed opening.  Then Casper, then the Gondy, then Thunder.  Boom.  9:45am the entire mountain was cleared to open.  We were solidly in the second tram to the top, arriving at the top around 10:15am.

 

I'm just going to describe our first run of the day, because the rest don't really matter.  Sure, we got plenty of titty deep untracked turns elsewhere on the mountain, but nothing could compare to the 4139 vertical feet of untracked nipple deep blower we skied right out the gate.  There was no time to fuck around with the upper mountain lifts.  We had a chance to ski a top to bottom Rendezvous Bowl to Hobacks totally untracked, and we were going to do it.  It was so fucking deep, the hobacks could've been 8000 vert and they would've been effortless.  Just point 'em straight and let the snow hit you in the face.  It was fucking bottomless right up to the cat track 4139 feet below.  Pinch me.

 

Oh yea, it was fucking PACKED today.  The Union Pass lift had like 100 people in line by the time we got down there for the second time.

 

Just so Phillycore wouldn't hate, we even stopped for some quick action shots.  Hopefully they're satisfactory.
