Justo8484 Posted November 30, 2015 Report Posted November 30, 2015 Anyone here ever done Tahoe without renting a car? Gonna be staying at northstar but wondering if their public transit is good enough to get to squalpine without renting a car. I checked google maps, and it should be like a half hour drive, but it's taking the most round about way and taking almost 5 hours if I switch to transit, even though there are bus routes on the shorter, more direct route? Justo8484 Posted November 30, 2015 Author Report Posted November 30, 2015 Yeah I'm also going with my family. Parents are just gonna be skiing northstar, so they realistically don't need a car, but I don't wanna be stuck at northstar the whole time, and don't feel like dealing with a rental car if I can get elsewhere easily with public transit. Also, Protect Our Winters and whatnot. Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted November 30, 2015 Report Posted November 30, 2015 (edited) When I was at Northstar with family we rented a car. For all those people a car rental will be more cost affective than a bunch of shuttles and save alot of time. You can use rental to get everybody to Northstar and rental car to explore other mountains. It's a no brainer. Edited November 30, 2015 by GrilledSteezeSandwich Quote
phillycore Posted November 30, 2015 Report Posted November 30, 2015 Been to Tahoe....stayed at heavenly but used a rental vehicle... Judging from my experience there....don't think I'd personally want to go without one. Unless you are only skiing one place. 1 Quote
toast21602 Posted November 30, 2015 Report Posted November 30, 2015 Was there over the summer. No rental car is going to suck. That place is massive. You will all be stuck at Northstar the whole time. 1 Quote
AtomicSkier Posted November 30, 2015 Report Posted November 30, 2015 What's there to deal with when renting a car? Â Public transportation sucks. Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted November 30, 2015 Report Posted November 30, 2015 The rental car companies are so freaking convenient. I think they pride themselves on getting people into the car in a few minutes. Quote
Justo8484 Posted December 1, 2015 Author Report Posted December 1, 2015 Mostly just curious, but you can really easily ski the cottonwoods in Utah without renting a car. Same deal with the park city area. If I can conveniently have someone else drive me around for less money, why not? Quote

GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted December 1, 2015 Report Posted December 1, 2015 This has to be a joke. Rental companies suck unless you are a preferrd member and can walk right out and hop into a car I've had a car rental four times in the last two years and everytime I give them My license and credit card and they show me where car is and I'm on my way. phillycore Posted December 1, 2015 Report Posted December 1, 2015 Hardest thing about a rental is getting your equipment in it. Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted December 1, 2015 Report Posted December 1, 2015 Hardest thing about a rental is getting your equipment in it. That's why you get an appropriate sized rental... Quote
DougFan4Lyfe Posted December 1, 2015 Report Posted December 1, 2015 That's why you get an appropriate sized rental... STFU Doug, you rented a SmartCar last time. SMH 1 Quote
