Kyle Posted January 6, 2016 Report Posted January 6, 2016 As per Facebook bear is opening at 4pm Thursday. I think I'm the only one on here who regularly goes so this thread may be pointless 1 Quote
toast21602 Posted January 6, 2016 Report Posted January 6, 2016 Nice! Good for them! Looks like this season is just as good for them as the others in the area and they didn't get the chance to waste money blowing snow for a two day opening like Blue. Not that I'm upset about Blue opening for a few days. 1 Quote
momskeeztoo Posted January 6, 2016 Report Posted January 6, 2016 I ski Bear, so no thread isn't pointless. Maybe tomorrow I'll ski Blue in the am, then go to Bear at night. 1 Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted January 6, 2016 Report Posted January 6, 2016 I ski Bear, so no thread isn't pointless. Maybe tomorrow I'll ski Blue in the am, then go to Bear at night. You're hardcore. You gonna be at Blue for opening. I don't know if I'll have anybody to drink beers in the lot with. Quote
momskeeztoo Posted January 6, 2016 Report Posted January 6, 2016 I'll be there early- not sure about opening. I could never drink beer in the parking lot, then drive home. Lightweight. 2 Quote
PASKIINGSUCKS Posted January 6, 2016 Report Posted January 6, 2016 Hey now Kyle, I'm there regularly haha. I will be pushing snow thursday night. Word on the street is small set up on black bear to start the season. Will try and post an update friday on what is set up if nobody beats me to it. Much like last year feel free to post suggestions or criticism in here and I will do my best to relay to the rest of the crew. 2 Quote
PASKIINGSUCKS Posted January 6, 2016 Report Posted January 6, 2016 Don't know if any of you looked at the trail map but word on the street is that once season gets kicking we are moving family park to that crossroads type area at the top of F chair. http://www.bcmountainresort.com/images/BC_TRAILMAP_2015_v5reducedsize.jpg Quote
mbike-ski Posted January 6, 2016 Report Posted January 6, 2016 since there's no adult racing at blue this year i'm looking forward to a few wednesday slalom and beer nights! 1 Quote
guitar73 Posted January 6, 2016 Report Posted January 6, 2016 we thought about going up tomorrow, but just have too much going on this week. Quote
Mixilplix Posted January 6, 2016 Report Posted January 6, 2016 I ski/ride there frequently...This is the first time in many years I didn't buy a pass though(tough not to when you only live five minutes away)...Really want to try to get to a bunch of other mountains this year...But will still hit up BC cause it's so damn close... Might travel the extra distance to boulder sunday if the park at bear is weak. Quote
PASKIINGSUCKS Posted January 7, 2016 Report Posted January 7, 2016 will do, they just did the build this morning so I have no clue what went in. Will know more after working tonight. Quote
Kyle Posted January 7, 2016 Author Report Posted January 7, 2016 Thanks. I'd love to save the extra hour drive and go to bear Sunday, but if it's only going to be 3 features and packed it may be worth it to go to boulder. I'm not expecting a full park by any means, just something more than a flat rail, flat box, and bonk Quote
burton71 Posted January 8, 2016 Report Posted January 8, 2016 10 or 11 features out. Snow was surprisingly good and park crew did a great job of keeping everything in shape. Pretty fun opening day. Quote

PASKIINGSUCKS Posted January 8, 2016 Report Posted January 8, 2016 Lemme try and remember. cannon up top on a very slight upslope, round bar and round bar with a slight drop down from the end of the first to the second, 12ish foot small table top type jump. propane tank lookin thinger but not the propane tank, you know which one I'm talking about. flat box, three small corrugated in a mellow z formation, three round rails in a mellow z formation. steep up to down flat bar, c box. theres a few more, maybe a regular down rail or something, my mind is blanking sorry I worked like 14 hours yesterday between bear and my regular job. Kids had a blast, some even said it was the best opening setup we've had in years, especially considering the lack of snow. Big props to the crew that did the build yesterday morning, I can't believe they got that many features in that fast. Quote

PASKIINGSUCKS Posted January 8, 2016 Report Posted January 8, 2016 Even all the lip jumpers were having a blast haha Quote
Kyle Posted January 9, 2016 Author Report Posted January 9, 2016 Actually gonna bail on the weekend all together. The rain Sunday is deterring me and I wouldn't be able to go tomorrow until at least 6 Quote
Kyle Posted January 12, 2016 Author Report Posted January 12, 2016 Heading up tonight. First day on the new boots so we'll see how it goes. Quote
momskeeztoo Posted January 13, 2016 Report Posted January 13, 2016 I was there tonight. Conditions were nice, wish they would open the whole place up. Maybe this weekend. Snowed like crazy for awhile. Piled up quick. Quote
Kyle Posted January 13, 2016 Author Report Posted January 13, 2016 I was there tonight. Conditions were nice, wish they would open the whole place up. Maybe this weekend. Snowed like crazy for awhile. Piled up quick. I second this. I arrived around 545. Slapped on the new boots, bought a ticket and was on the snow by 6. Snow was soft and fast at first and slowed way down once the squall moved in. Park setup is decent for beginning of the year. Took me almost 3 hours to get home due to various parts of 100 being closed for absolutely no reason at all. Quote
Kyle Posted January 13, 2016 Author Report Posted January 13, 2016 Correct me if I'm wrong, but taking 100 from bear to southern chester county took 3 hours!? That sounds fucking miserable 100 was closed in 4 seperate spots so I got thrown onto back roads and behind people who drove 5 fucking mph the whole way. New car had no problems on the snow though.
