tnt Posted January 21, 2016 Report Posted January 21, 2016 - How much snow will Blue get Fri/Sat? - How busy will they be Sunday? - Will they be 100% open? - Will there be enough snow for some bike trails/t-bar/etc....? Yeehaw....hope it dumps. Quote
toast21602 Posted January 21, 2016 Report Posted January 21, 2016 -10" -they will be packed on sunday of Philly people can get out -will be 100% except sidewinder, but that will be skiable even if closed -might be enough snow, but there is no base off the trails to cover rocks. Quote
tnt Posted January 21, 2016 Author Report Posted January 21, 2016 Predictions for the poconos in general? CB? JF? Forecasts are all over the place.... I'm gonna have a car full of kids on sunday, trying to balance the 'storm total vs. insane crowd' equation. Quote

tnt Posted January 21, 2016 Author Report Posted January 21, 2016 Yeah, looks like snow might linger into sunday AM.... Hope we can get out of jersey and get to a mountain. Will be a fun day if we can. Was hoping to hit the catskills this weekend, but looks like they get skunked, and that drive in poor conditions doesn't make any sense. Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted January 21, 2016 Report Posted January 21, 2016 Blue might get skunked..more likely JF and Camelback will. Storm is trending a bit south. Jersey is gonna get hammered though. Quote
trackbiker Posted January 21, 2016 Report Posted January 21, 2016 Blue will be mobbed on Sunday with the "snow in the backyard crowd" even though there will be more snow in their backyard than at Blue. 2 Quote

Maybe later in the day people are gonna be digging out first. I've never seen blue packed immediately after a major snowstorm. A day or two later yes. If this storm happened Thursday-Friday..Sunday would be packed. 1 Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted January 21, 2016 Report Posted January 21, 2016 3" of wet glop 3" of wet glop I don't think the snow with this storm will be glob..the rain snow line will be a couple hundred miles south and east. Quote
guitar73 Posted January 21, 2016 Report Posted January 21, 2016 it's not gonna matter b/c they will just groom all that snow into the base. Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted January 21, 2016 Report Posted January 21, 2016 Saturday will be the rider of the storm day. The only untracked snow Sunday morning will be if it snows after 10pm Saturday. it's not gonna matter b/c they will just groom all that snow into the base. QFT the only way to get fresh around these parts is to ski during a storm or if it dumps after nightly grooming took place but before opening. Quote
Kyle Posted January 21, 2016 Report Posted January 21, 2016 I think bear is going to be the mountain that benefits most from this storm in the way of totals. Quote
Kyle Posted January 21, 2016 Report Posted January 21, 2016 I think spring may have them beatForgot all about them. Either way, if you go to bear or spring Saturday you'll be cross country skiing. High winds and wet snow on a mountain with no pitch is going to be terrible. Quote

thedude4bides Posted January 21, 2016 Report Posted January 21, 2016 What time is it supposed to start coming down? Earlier this week I had it in my head Friday night might be a good time to be on the hill.... Now I'm hearing later? Quote

indiggio Posted January 21, 2016 Report Posted January 21, 2016 Blue might get skunked.. That happened on one of the storms last year. It was pumping at home, but by the time I got to Blue, it was barely a flurry. Quote

tarponhead Posted January 21, 2016 Report Posted January 21, 2016 Mountain Creek maybe..... Sussex county not in the sweet spot. MC will get less than blue Quote

QFT the only way to get fresh around these parts is to ski during a storm or if it dumps after nightly grooming took place but before opening. Yeah, I was thinking about that too....blue and CB, will just immediately groom everything, which is a drag. At lest at JF, there are a few more longer graded areas, and a few spots they leave engrossed. Elk also - was there after a storm and they left a handful of trails alone.... But they are both gonna get skunked by the looks of it. Blue seems like the wise choice for me, coming from NJ - drive west on highways until the very end. Or mountain creek. We'll see. Snowmagedon approaches. Make peace with your maker. And go the store things you probably already have in the pantry. Quote
