Rex Goliath Posted January 25, 2016 Report Posted January 25, 2016 How about this gem from the current Elk Mountain brochure! Lets see: 800 new trees -- check. While cutting down old growth forest along the way. Extensive lift improvements -- At Elk??? Look the same to me and have since 1994! New Elk Wagon -- Really !! What a convenience. New Storage building -- Well they cleared the trash away, but no building yet. So far is a virtual building. Extensive main pond work -- refurbished the dam to further screw with the Villagers. No wonder they had to raise the prices again this year. I do like the new t-shirts in the Ski Shop -- they say "Grow a Pair" of skis and Ski Elk Mountain! Quote

Schif Posted January 26, 2016 Report Posted January 26, 2016 love how the snowboard in the pictures is from the early to late nineties.. that brand has been in the dumps for a long time That was the first thing I thought of when I saw that too. 1 Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted January 26, 2016 Report Posted January 26, 2016 Do they still make Kemper snowboards. My roommate in college had one circa 1998 Quote
phillycore Posted January 26, 2016 Report Posted January 26, 2016 For some reason I remember reading about upcoming Kemper snowboards in some magazine when I was in a car waiting for my Dad to get done work. I remember it having a flat tail with a V cut out in the back. Well....he died when I was 16 so this is pre 1986. Is that crazy or what? 1 Quote
phillycore Posted January 26, 2016 Report Posted January 26, 2016 Ok, well I'm apparently mixing something up a bit because Kemper snowboards was founded in 1987 according to the Internet search I just did, but I remember reading about it in the car because I wanted one and thought that it looked radical at the time.... Kyle Posted January 26, 2016 Report Posted January 26, 2016 image.jpegLooks like any PA mountain on a holiday weekend 2 Quote

Old Geezer Posted February 2, 2016 Report Posted February 2, 2016 Back on track: Elk Mountain may be the only ski hill in the world where painting the floor in a 50-year old picnic lodge is considered an annual improvement. For you historians, that would have been last season or -2 seasons ago. Wait another 25 years and they'll do this "improvement" again! 1 Quote
Rex Goliath Posted February 2, 2016 Author Report Posted February 2, 2016 painting that floor was a disaster. I fell on it. On Sunday watch 2 kids fall. Quote

Schif Posted March 3, 2016 Report Posted March 3, 2016 All this Elk hate. I guess you guys never went off trail there and skied up and onto a guy's deck and then meandered through the trees until you found the Quad again. Quote
