JollyJake99 Posted April 11, 2016 Report Posted April 11, 2016 Just wondering, did anyone see that the new hotel/waterpark had any effect on the skiing experience this past winter? We didn't, but please see the thread in the "Gear" forum for an explanation. Quote
Shadows Posted April 11, 2016 Report Posted April 11, 2016 Whenever the hotel was overbooked my skis slowed down. 1 Quote
poconoceancity Posted April 12, 2016 Report Posted April 12, 2016 I've heard it makes that side of the mountain much more congested early on in the day. Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted April 12, 2016 Report Posted April 12, 2016 Nobody who's commented on this thread has even been to camelback this season. Quote
poconoceancity Posted April 12, 2016 Report Posted April 12, 2016 I drove through over break and one of the families that hangs with us at JF did a weekend there in February. Quote

Schif Posted April 21, 2016 Report Posted April 21, 2016 I have to go there next month for a Bar Mitzvah. Never been to one of these shindigs but considering a room was booked it almost seems like a wedding for a 13 year old. Mazel Tov Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted April 21, 2016 Report Posted April 21, 2016 Yeah Bar mitzvahs can be lavish affairs. I never wanted one as I'm a Sunday school dropout but I attended many of them. You better get good at the whip nae nae dance and you can teach the young kids how to do the Macarena Quote
Shadows Posted April 21, 2016 Report Posted April 21, 2016 Biggest fuck up ever. It literally made me mad when i drove around up there to look at the hotel. Real grand, clean, expansive building with lots of thought into it. The water slide coming out of the building isnt clear. Quote
Rowsdower Posted April 22, 2016 Report Posted April 22, 2016 (edited) You drive up and you see a giant cement box with colored tubes jutting out of it. It kills whatever atmosphere the mountain had. Last time I was there in mid February the space between the bottom of the Glen double and Stevenson Express quad was packed with families walking to and from the mountain coaster. It wasn't safe. It's at the bottom of the run out between three chairlifts and you've got people in sneakers with kids in tow puttering over to the mountain coaster. Went to Barley Creek afterwards around 2:30 and there was an hour wait for a table. I used to tolerate Camelback. It was closest to where I lived in Jersey and it has decent terrain for a PA mountain. After this year I will not be going back. Got a Peak Pass and moving to JFBB. CBK had their chance to thoughtfully integrate the new resort into the mountain and absolutely blew it. Edited April 22, 2016 by Rowsdower Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted April 22, 2016 Report Posted April 22, 2016 Blue has always been way better than camelback. 1 Quote
momskeeztoo Posted April 23, 2016 Report Posted April 23, 2016 I bet it's major $$ to stay there. Then there's another new indoor water park practically around the corner on 380. I can't believe there's that much market for these places. And Great Wolf Lodge. Just the thought of being in that warm water with a ton of other people....yuck. Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted April 23, 2016 Report Posted April 23, 2016 The market for the hotel is New York City and north jersey. Quote
