mbike-ski Posted October 22, 2016 Report Posted October 22, 2016 (edited) You are doing it wrong. On one of our trips to Utah, PC made it out in time to take advantage of the free lift ticket with same day flight. Brighton i believe. He had his skis and picked up a car. We did that and had lunch and ski'd Deer valley a few years ago Traveling with kids is tough, we did the southern vt thing for years with the kids - easiest and cheapest, and had a lot of fun. Ski2Live Live2Ski Posted October 22, 2016 Report Posted October 22, 2016 Definitely not putting kids on a plane to ski for a while. May get them to VT this year. So far they have done poconos. Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted October 22, 2016 Report Posted October 22, 2016 Take em to windham. They'll love it there. Quote
indiggio Posted October 22, 2016 Report Posted October 22, 2016 To take kids on flight out west, you need to wait until they're self-sufficient (carry their own boots, carryon, etc.) and can ski/board enough difficult terrain out here to make the west worthwhile. Not worth the expense/hassle of taking them out west to ski easy stuff, that terrain can be had around here and New England far cheaper. 2 Quote
Shadows Posted October 22, 2016 Report Posted October 22, 2016 maybe he can borrow jeff's? Was this a joke? Didnt think jeff was that spoiled but woudlnt doubt it. Partial owner maybe. Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted October 22, 2016 Report Posted October 22, 2016 Was this a joke? Didnt think jeff was that spoiled but woudlnt doubt it. Partial owner maybe. Jeff doesn't have a private plane but he has friends that do. How do you think Toast was able to get a direct flight from ABE to Jackson Hole on a Gulfstream with 3 hours notice. Quote
Shadows Posted October 22, 2016 Report Posted October 22, 2016 so what youre saying is; jeff is cheating on you? Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted October 22, 2016 Report Posted October 22, 2016 so what youre saying is; jeff is cheating on you? I'm happy Jeff let's me in the United airlines lounge with him. Quote

RidgeRacer Posted October 23, 2016 Report Posted October 23, 2016 First of all ABE has less airlines than larger airports so less competition. The planes that fly out of smaller airports are smaller and smaller planes have a higher per seat operating cost as landing fees as pilots are spread out over less passengers. Another reason is that low cost airlines typically don't fly out of regional airports as much as major hubs. I've had some fun road trips but as I get older the thought of driving several hours after a final ski day just makes me tired. I drive less and less as I get older. My car is 15 months old and I have 9,000 miles on it. I really wish ABE had more in the way of flight options. Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted October 23, 2016 Report Posted October 23, 2016 I really wish ABE had more in the way of flight options. You can fly to chicago and from there can fly to the rest of the world Quote
Ski2Live Live2Ski Posted October 23, 2016 Report Posted October 23, 2016 (edited) For me Frontier flying out of Trenton is the easiest option by far. Hope they run some convenient flights from there to Denver this winter. Edited October 23, 2016 by Ski2Live Live2Ski Quote

Ski2Live Live2Ski Posted October 24, 2016 Report Posted October 24, 2016 When they fly to Denver it is usually direct as Denver is their main hub. They do not offer service there from Trenton at all times though. Quote
Shadows Posted October 24, 2016 Report Posted October 24, 2016 picked someone up from trenton a bit ago. random airport. Quote
Ski2Live Live2Ski Posted November 19, 2016 Report Posted November 19, 2016 I saw a report 7 Springs is expecting up to 10" this weekend Quote

GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted November 19, 2016 Report Posted November 19, 2016 picked someone up from trenton a bit ago. random airport. They do about as many passengers as the Lehigh Valley airport. Quote
Shadows Posted November 19, 2016 Report Posted November 19, 2016 yea but there terminal is smaller than most bus stations. saw more deer when i went there than planes. Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted November 19, 2016 Report Posted November 19, 2016 yea but there terminal is smaller than most bus stations. saw more deer when i went there than planes. Then they're efficient. Lehigh valley can handle double or triple the passengers but are at a geographic disadvantage with limited flight destinations and being an hour+ to two of the worlds largest airports with cheaper flights. My uncle is on the airport board. They are in massive debt. Why they add to sell a bunch of land for the new fedEx hub. Quote
Shadows Posted November 19, 2016 Report Posted November 19, 2016 Your unlce is on the board lol. Youd never know youre this connected if i j just met you at a bar. You know if they want to save money they can hire me to clean their windows. My old guy has them now and he charges way more than i do. I think its funny they were worried about a couple hundred thousand in debt or whatever when theyve been sitting on multi million dollar land deals Quote

I think its funny they were worried about a couple hundred thousand in debt or whatever when theyve been sitting on multi million dollar land deals I'm super connected. My grandfather was on like twelve boards and head of rotary and board president of Allentown hospital. I couldn't imagine going to board meetings in the evenings after work but some people wanna act like they're important. That uncle is in commercial real estate. The 3900 Hamilton street building across from dorney park is his and that's where his office is. And their debt was 26 million back in the mid 90s due to a county settlement for taking a property that was supposed to be developed. They've whittled away their debt and made their last payment with the land sale to FedEx Quote
Shadows Posted November 19, 2016 Report Posted November 19, 2016 (edited) ok so 26 mil with a 200 mill sale. Idk what it is but the article i read sounded like there shouldnt have been a problem in the first place. Edited November 20, 2016 by Shadows Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted November 20, 2016 Report Posted November 20, 2016 The land sale was around $10 million. I think $200 million is the amount of money that fedex is spending on the facility. Quote
Shadows Posted November 20, 2016 Report Posted November 20, 2016 What sucks about you being connected is that youre doug.... The skier guy at bars that talks about hitting 16 year olds. Like im gonna drop your name anywhere where money is involved lol Quote
