toast21602 Posted November 16, 2016 Report Posted November 16, 2016 They mowed the slopes! Great improvement... 1 Quote

Rex Goliath Posted November 16, 2016 Report Posted November 16, 2016 I always buy my pass for the lowest price. Been paying just a little over $500 for the past 7 yrs or so at JF/BB or Blue. I think the "100 day guarantee" is cool and all, but really, im sure they hit that more than not. I think probably all PA mountains, except Bear Creek, probably hit 100 days as an average each year. I dont know, seems like the car salesman saying "our cars come with 4 tires". Elk would be great if they would stop planting trees, and letting people ski in the trees. I get it though....Elk is probably close to you, makes the most sense for you to ski there....etc. Everyone has a reason to ski where they do. He was a used care salesman! Quote
Old Geezer Posted November 20, 2016 Author Report Posted November 20, 2016 (edited) It is entertaining to see their descriptions of improvements every year. One year real soon Elk will be reporting painting the lines in the parking lot as an annual improvement. If I could have convinced some of my ex-wives of these tall tales, "Honey buns, I made some home improvements this weekend, I mowed the lawn!" I'd be s better man for it. GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted November 20, 2016 Report Posted November 20, 2016 Some of your ex wives...oh Lordy. Don't tell me you were also a contestant on the Love Connection. Quote
Old Geezer Posted November 21, 2016 Author Report Posted November 21, 2016 If Elk's webcam is to be believed they have a decent looking snowfall from Sat Nite/Sunday. It's clearly not man made snow. Quote
tnt Posted November 21, 2016 Report Posted November 21, 2016 Any chance they shoot for this weekend? Get the 100 day clock ticking? Web cam has a big blob of ice on it, can't tell if they are blowing snow or not, but temps seem right. Quote

No way they will open this weekend and they don't have to open till mid December to try for the 100 days thing. Quote
Schif Posted November 21, 2016 Report Posted November 21, 2016 On the radio in Scranton today they were saying how the Northern tier, where Elk is, got around 6 inches. There's about 2 inches left on the ground at my mom's house here. Quote
toast21602 Posted November 21, 2016 Report Posted November 21, 2016 Maybe since they cut the grass it will help them open earlier this year... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote
rummy Posted November 21, 2016 Report Posted November 21, 2016 The website just updated with new images and this comment, "off to a good start...opening soon...." Quote
Old Geezer Posted November 22, 2016 Author Report Posted November 22, 2016 Looking at the pic today, they have wheeled snow guns lines up on the west slope. Quote
jeff Posted November 23, 2016 Report Posted November 23, 2016 I hiked elk yesterday 11/21 and skied. There was about 9 inches of snow with wind blown spots deeper. Word up there is still shooting for early December opening. I would guess Tuesday 12/6 based off of past years 6 Quote
mbike-ski Posted November 23, 2016 Report Posted November 23, 2016 Would be cool to use my wm voucher this year! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted November 23, 2016 Report Posted November 23, 2016 Let's do a PASR day at Elk...Rodney Slim and the MILFs love it up there. Quote

rgrwilco Posted November 23, 2016 Report Posted November 23, 2016 Elk is like the douchebag husband who treats his insanely hot wife like shit and doesn't know what he's got. great mountain wasted on shitty management. 1 Quote
momskeeztoo Posted November 24, 2016 Report Posted November 24, 2016 I actually like Elk, too. Fun mountain. Quote
RidgeRacer Posted November 24, 2016 Report Posted November 24, 2016 I've never had a bad day at Elk. It's fun. It's the references to Vermont, the high ticket prices and the signs that say "ski fast or lose pass" and "no tree skiing" that kill it for me. Quote
Rex Goliath Posted December 3, 2016 Report Posted December 3, 2016 "Once open, we will honor mid week pricing daily (including weekends) through December 23" Quote

It's the references to Vermont, the high ticket prices and the signs that say "ski fast or lose pass" and "no tree skiing" that kill it for me. Yeah, it's a shame. They have some nice steep trees that look ideal.... Quote
Schif Posted December 5, 2016 Report Posted December 5, 2016 I've been in the trees a bunch of times at Elk and never got in trouble for it. I mean it probably sucks to get kicked out of Elk but to date it hasn't happened to me. Quote
Ride Delaware ? Posted December 5, 2016 Report Posted December 5, 2016 I've also been in them a couple times. It's kind of tough to get caught, especially midweek. There's so few patrollers and all the trails are lined with Evergreen's. Once you're in, it's tough to see you unless they see you come out. Quote
