GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted March 16, 2017 Report Posted March 16, 2017 Oh absolutely. Its like carni-town there. I expect people to walk out of that pigmy colony juggling fried oreos. That would be awesome. Remember that coffee shack that didn't open till 9am Quote
enjoralas Posted March 16, 2017 Author Report Posted March 16, 2017 The triple was running but that line was just as bad. I did two runs, had two beers. Saw the line die down and did 4 more runs. Both Granite and South Peak lifts were closed. MC says the 24-30" they got wasn't enough snow to re-open those lifts. Wtf. Strike 3 They closed those peaks in freaking February. It's like they didn't even try this season Quote

momskeeztoo Posted March 16, 2017 Report Posted March 16, 2017 It's miserable here today. I've gotten two runs in. Gapers overwhelmed by the 'pow day' Sold the second voucher in the lift line for $20. I have never skied there. Not really worth the drive for me. Blue started getting crowded about 130. Saw some spectacular wipe outs on DW and Razors. Gaper City. Quote
RootDKJ Posted March 16, 2017 Report Posted March 16, 2017 Just shows how good we have it at Blue!!!That's the real lesson learned here. Blue is a well organized efficiently run operation compared against MC. Hell at one point I was even missing Blue's Gapers as MC's Gapers are far worse. Quote

Ski2Live Live2Ski Posted March 16, 2017 Report Posted March 16, 2017 To be fair, it is the best ski area open to the public in NJ. Quote
momskeeztoo Posted March 16, 2017 Report Posted March 16, 2017 Isn't it the only ski area in New Jersey? Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted March 16, 2017 Report Posted March 16, 2017 Also hidden valley which I think is just for racers(private) and Campgaw which is tiny. 1 Quote
Ski2Live Live2Ski Posted March 16, 2017 Report Posted March 16, 2017 (edited) That's why discerning NJ residents ski in NY and PA. When Hidden Valley was public and I lived 40 minutes away, I sometimes went there in preference to the much larger MCreek less than a mile away, on account of HV not sucking as much. GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted March 16, 2017 Report Posted March 16, 2017 Makes sense and NJ is the second wealthiest state next to Connecticut in terms of per capita income so they have the Johnny Cash to ski. Quote
Ski2Live Live2Ski Posted March 16, 2017 Report Posted March 16, 2017 (edited) One could skin up and earn some turns at Belle Mountain in Lambertville today. 190' of vertical still popular with sledders since it closed 20 years ago. Edited March 16, 2017 by Ski2Live Live2Ski Quote

momskeeztoo Posted March 16, 2017 Report Posted March 16, 2017 Ha! People used to go there when I was growing up. I think the county used to own it. Quote
Ski2Live Live2Ski Posted March 16, 2017 Report Posted March 16, 2017 There was a report on Alpinezone from Tuesday at Belle Mountain. Cool! And with video of descent. Too bad it was made by someone standing sideways on a super fat ski. Quote

GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted March 16, 2017 Report Posted March 16, 2017 (edited) Why such constant distaste towards snowboarders? Seriously what is this 1987...it's the exact same sport just different tools. Maybe you should see some ripping snowboarders like TP4, VTMark and -Dan Edited March 16, 2017 by GrilledSteezeSandwich 1 Quote
Ski2Live Live2Ski Posted March 16, 2017 Report Posted March 16, 2017 (edited) It is just a shtick. In reality I have a friend who owns a snowboard. He finds it makes eastern hills more interesting since he is not as good on it as he is on skis. Edited March 16, 2017 by Ski2Live Live2Ski Quote
