JFskiDan Posted October 2, 2017 Report Posted October 2, 2017 So, i really havent skied Blue for that long, but this trail not opening doesnt come as any surprise to anyone does it? My guess is trail comes after hotel/apartment thing. I guess they did spout out about the 40th trail for their 40th year, so, i guess its upper challenge, and lower challenge this year? something like that? Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted October 2, 2017 Author Report Posted October 2, 2017 Korey Sixpax So, i really havent skied Blue for that long, but this trail not opening doesnt come as any surprise to anyone does it? I don't know if the condos are going to happen. Environmentalists don't want it so close to the Appalachian trail which has put it on hold. What's that picture supposed to show anyway Giant Slalom sucks?? Quote
toast21602 Posted October 2, 2017 Report Posted October 2, 2017 More excited for sidewinder not being a park than a new trail actually happening!!! 2 Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted October 2, 2017 Author Report Posted October 2, 2017 Wow just wow sidewinder isn't a park anymore. A lot of the former JibHonks have grown up and haven't been replaced. Quote
JFskiDan Posted October 2, 2017 Report Posted October 2, 2017 I heard no pipeline = no condos. Not an "inside source' just a rumor. Whats the status of the pipeline? I like sidewinder. Trails that turn are fun. 1 Quote
Ski2Live Live2Ski Posted October 2, 2017 Report Posted October 2, 2017 Thumb up on the end of sidewinder park. Now clear some more glades. Gotta be easier than opening a new trail. 3 Quote

skifreak Posted October 2, 2017 Report Posted October 2, 2017 You should ski this winter. I know, but I won't. Toast kind of said what I was waiting for you to say. That's why I posted it. Quote

RidgeRacer Posted October 3, 2017 Report Posted October 3, 2017 More excited for sidewinder not being a park than a new trail actually happening!!!Same... Thats like having a new trail. Thumb up on the end of sidewinder park. Now clear some more glades. Gotta be easier than opening a new trail.Yes because that 30 inches we get annually will fill those right up. Who needs base repairs? 1 Quote
SallyCat Posted October 3, 2017 Report Posted October 3, 2017 Are they actually taking the jumps and features off Sidewinder? How do you know? That would be awesome . I saw them once blowing snow into the "glades". Lol. It just freezes into giant ruts that people seem to run like bobsled tracks before they come shooting out of control onto Lazy Mile. Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted October 3, 2017 Author Report Posted October 3, 2017 They always blow snow into the glades at least the two on the map ones. We know sidewinder is now a trail Because it's now shown on the map as a blue square. When it was a park it was shown as a black diamond. 2 Quote
JFskiDan Posted October 3, 2017 Report Posted October 3, 2017 Same... Thats like having a new trail. Yes because that 30 inches we get annually will fill those right up. Who needs base repairs? Yeah, i was thinking the same thing. Are they actually taking the jumps and features off Sidewinder? How do you know? That would be awesome . I saw them once blowing snow into the "glades". Lol. It just freezes into giant ruts that people seem to run like bobsled tracks before they come shooting out of control onto Lazy Mile. The snow they blow in the glades is "basemaker" snow, so when it does actually snow, you can quickly skim off the powder and get down to the ice instead of hitting rocks and roots. The glades at Jack Frost tend to stay together a little longer, but it still just doesnt snow enough in PA. La Nina Winter - Lots of snow!!!! Take it to the bank. Quote
indiggio Posted October 3, 2017 Report Posted October 3, 2017 Wondering why they didn't split Sidewinder into upper and middle to give them 40 trails? 3 Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted October 3, 2017 Author Report Posted October 3, 2017 What about that little trail that cuts across under the six pack from homestretch to lower park. That's a fun one and not on the map. 2 Quote
RidgeRacer Posted October 3, 2017 Report Posted October 3, 2017 Challenge glade (Happyland) at Jackson Frost catches that blow over from all sides. It's sort of an anomaly in that regard. Sleepy hollow at Blue is like that to a certain extent but not quite. Regardless the glades at Blue are usually gambling with your bases Quote
theprogram4 Posted October 3, 2017 Report Posted October 3, 2017 Yes because that 30 inches we get annually will fill those right up. Who needs base repairs? i havent been in the blue mountain glades in years. even during that 30 inch plus storm, you couldn't ride them cause there was no base before the storm Quote
indiggio Posted October 3, 2017 Report Posted October 3, 2017 What about that little trail that cuts across under the six pack from homestretch to lower park. That's a fun one and not on the map. Or the one that cuts from the top of the final headwall on Razor's over to the top of the Falls? Quote
