JFskiDan Posted January 7, 2017 Report Posted January 7, 2017 Skied with a friend today at Frost. it was cold. There was a little Bue-like grooming on some trails, a little out of the norm, but maybe from grooming fresh man made. really firm snow on one park glade, not tons of coverage. Challange glade ok, really firm snow in the morning but once some traffic got on it it loosened up a little. Small area of ungroomed on the side of Challenge, big bumps, some nice snow on top of some ice. Fun. Saw C1 from the lift. Very small section of E-glade skiable, but the snow was decent. Telstar or Solitude (1 of them) and Floyds closed for the race team. GSS, Floyds is wickedly narrow at the top, and it kind of looks like they are trying to make it steeper by blowing and 8' base on it. Odd. Went in for a coffee and to warm up some. Challenge glade was a little softer by now. Slopes were getting just a little scraped in a few spots. Saw C1 from the lift again. Floyds was open, but skied off pretty well. There is just a tiny bit of skiable area on the Elevator, just kind of off the side. Snow was ok, but if you mess up, it will be an uncomfortable ride down to the bottom, that would surely destroy your high priced pants. No lift lines. Called it a day around 1. 2 Quote

Ski2Live Live2Ski Posted January 9, 2017 Report Posted January 9, 2017 (edited) Had a nice day today from 11:30 to 3:30. Bought my girl some more face protection to cope with the cold. Stuck to the blue stuff as the point was confidence building after a rough last run at Mt Snow. Mission accomplished in that regard. She handled the trees off One Park nicely and learned to propel herself by skating better than she had ever done before. Best run was Dematte's Demise which had a lot of soft snow cover. Ski2Live Live2Ski Posted January 13, 2017 Report Posted January 13, 2017 (edited) Sunday will have been my most expensive day of skiing yet. Daughter hurt her thumb falling on the first run. First aid examined it and thought it was a bruise that needed icing, but advised that if it did not get better in a few days we should see a doctor. Saw 2 and a radiology center. Turns out it is fractured, and now in a cast. Awaiting bill. To her great credit she got up and did 7 more runs, did them pole-less due to sore hand, and learned to "skate" as a result. That stinks..the bill is irrelevant what matters is that your daughter is ok and heals up fast. Quote

Thanks, it was just a way of telling the story. Dr. was confident she will be fine when cast comes off in 4 weeks, and advised that cast provides ample protection for continued skiing Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted January 13, 2017 Report Posted January 13, 2017 Any upper body injury I would continues skiing...when I had an upper arm and shoulder injury 11 years ago and was in a sling I was out skiing two days later on Vicoden and ended up having a spectacular crash at Nastar on same side...knock on wood twice I haven't fallen yet this season. I think last season I fell three times twice at blue and once at Jackson hole. Quote

Don't feel bad. You wouldn't be the first parent who thought their kid sprained something and it was fractured! 1 Quote
theprogram4 Posted January 13, 2017 Report Posted January 13, 2017 (edited) Hope your daughter feels better. I was the very first patient ever after bear creek renovated and reopened. The paperwork said 000001 lol. They told us to go to the hospital cause my wrist was broken. My dad drove us home to watch the eagles game, then took me to the hospital lol Edited January 13, 2017 by theprogram4 Quote
