Mess Posted February 5, 2017 Report Posted February 5, 2017 Might make a trip up on a Sunday. Stay over night then ski Monday. Which mountain has best trails for intermediate skiers? Thanks Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted February 5, 2017 Report Posted February 5, 2017 First Windham..second belleayre..third Hunter for intermediates. Quote
RootDKJ Posted February 6, 2017 Report Posted February 6, 2017 First Windham..second belleayre..third Hunter for intermediates. Agreed. Go ski Plattekill if it's open Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted February 6, 2017 Report Posted February 6, 2017 Don't think Platekill is open midweek. Quote
tnt Posted February 6, 2017 Report Posted February 6, 2017 Where'd you end up? Was at Belleayre yesterday and it was solid. Soft, man made snow on a bunch of bump trails. Couple of glades open. Nice day. I think Hunter is a better mountain if West is open - which it is. Plattekill is great, but not open midweek. Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted February 6, 2017 Report Posted February 6, 2017 Hunter is the best ski area in the Catskills but not the best one for intermediates. Belleayre only has two or three blues from the top. Quote
RootDKJ Posted February 6, 2017 Report Posted February 6, 2017 Don't think Platekill is open midweek. OP said Sunday. Strike two 1 Quote

Ride Delaware ? Posted February 8, 2017 Report Posted February 8, 2017 Hunter is the best ski area in the Catskills but not the best one for intermediates. Belleayre only has two or three blues from the top.I'd rather ride Platty every day of the winter than go to Hunter one day. Doesn't do anything for me. I can see the allure for you though. Quote
Ski2Live Live2Ski Posted February 9, 2017 Report Posted February 9, 2017 (edited) I love Plattekill but would not recommend it for intermediates. Windham is best variety of intermediate terrain in Catskills and also much more vertical and better lifts than Belleayre or Plattekill. Edited February 9, 2017 by Ski2Live Live2Ski Quote
JFskiDan Posted February 9, 2017 Report Posted February 9, 2017 I love Plattekill but would not recommend it for intermediates. . Too many terrain parks? Lots of boarders? 3 Quote
Ride Delaware ? Posted February 9, 2017 Report Posted February 9, 2017 Too many terrain parks? Lots of boarders? It's got more of that Magic/MRG feel going on. Not as much snowmaking and grooming. Even the intermediate stuff can be challenging. It would make them better skiers quickly though. Terrain Park? Barely existent when I've been... Quote
