GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted February 27, 2017 Report Posted February 27, 2017 (edited) Platekill is pretty close to Root...I don't think I would wanna drive 3.5 hours to ski there unless it was a whopper of a pow day or places around here were already closed. How's their snowmaking?? 17 of 38 runs open. Edited February 27, 2017 by GrilledSteezeSandwich Quote
Ski2Live Live2Ski Posted February 27, 2017 Report Posted February 27, 2017 Not great snowmaking. It is a place to go when natural snow warrants it. 2 Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted February 27, 2017 Report Posted February 27, 2017 Root you should go to Utah for a long weekend...turn it into a bachelor party. 3 Quote
Ski2Live Live2Ski Posted February 27, 2017 Report Posted February 27, 2017 (edited) With good natural snow, which they generally keep ungroomed on expert runs, they have the most challenging skiing one can find south of Adirondaks or VT. Edited February 27, 2017 by Ski2Live Live2Ski Quote

Ski2Live Live2Ski Posted February 27, 2017 Report Posted February 27, 2017 (edited) Wow more so than Hunter??Hunter's west side has 2 runs at about the same level as Plattekill, but there is far less of such terrain there, it gets blown or skied off faster, and there is little that is gladed. Plattekill on a powder day is fairly unique for east coast skiing. And they get more natural snow than other Catskill places. Edited February 27, 2017 by Ski2Live Live2Ski 1 Quote

Ride Delaware ? Posted September 27, 2017 Report Posted September 27, 2017 Simply put, when everything is open and there is snow, Plattekill beats everything else in the Skillz. Hunter is baller early season because of their dialed in snowmaking system, but once the crowds set in, avoid it at all costs. Belleayre is Belleayre. Enjoy it for what it is. It has its moments. Windham I could take it or leave it. Does nothing for me. Quote
