Ski2Live Live2Ski Posted March 20, 2017 Report Posted March 20, 2017 Camelback is hoping to stretch the season to mid April http://wnep.com/2017/03/18/ski-resorts-flourish-after-snow-storm/ 1 Quote
JFskiDan Posted March 20, 2017 Report Posted March 20, 2017 Good for them. My guess is, if Blue closes on the 2nd, they will close on the 9th. 1 Quote
enjoralas Posted March 20, 2017 Report Posted March 20, 2017 They always seem to close at least a week earlier than they say they are going to. I do predict that if they have the snow and the hotel occupancy levels that they will push for the 16th tho. Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted March 20, 2017 Report Posted March 20, 2017 I'll prob ski there one day weekend of the 8th and 9th. Mainly so I can go to barly creek on the way home. Haven't been there in 4 years. 1 Quote
enjoralas Posted March 28, 2017 Report Posted March 28, 2017 You could still go to Barley Creek, but looks like Camelback will also be closing this weekend: Jodi Beam to Camelback Mountain Resort March 24 at 4:29pm · When will you be closing for the season? GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted March 28, 2017 Report Posted March 28, 2017 With this weather I'm surprised they're opening this weekend or Blue for that matter Quote
enjoralas Posted March 28, 2017 Report Posted March 28, 2017 I seem to be one of the few that really like Camelback, but as I said last year and will say again this year, it's shitty to obfuscate your intended closing day when you have hotel guests that are up against a cancellation deadline. That reply to a random question on facebook is the only mention I have seen of closing April 2. 2 Quote
poconoceancity Posted March 28, 2017 Report Posted March 28, 2017 I like CB also. It will be between there and Blue for our 2018-19 season passes. Quote
enjoralas Posted March 28, 2017 Report Posted March 28, 2017 I like CB also. It will be between there and Blue for our 2018-19 season passes. If purchased before 4/1 I think it is the CB pass includes outdoor water park pass for this summer and next summer. I almost used that to justify a pass to myself, but it didn't make financial sense. GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted March 28, 2017 Report Posted March 28, 2017 The runs at camelback are just shorter than at blue and flatten out sooner. 1 Quote
poconoceancity Posted March 28, 2017 Report Posted March 28, 2017 I agree GSS. It's going to depend on what the group wants to do. I think CB is better for kids. The new hotel may have ruined that though. Quote

poconoceancity Posted March 28, 2017 Report Posted March 28, 2017 Less crowded. At least it was by the quad where the new hotel is before it was there. Quote

I don't know I don't think I've ever been to camelback mid season. PoconoOceanCity I just checked out your stats and looks like you used to go to Camelback most years until about five years ago. Ski2Live Live2Ski Posted March 28, 2017 Author Report Posted March 28, 2017 (edited) I like CB. Much less crowded than Blue on peak days (or at least easier to avoid crowds). And while runs are shorter there are more of them. Edited March 28, 2017 by Ski2Live Live2Ski Quote
poconoceancity Posted March 28, 2017 Report Posted March 28, 2017 Correct GSS I had a season pass there before I had kids. I used to like it and it's and easy drive down 80 from lake harmony. Quote
Ski2Live Live2Ski Posted March 28, 2017 Author Report Posted March 28, 2017 Yeah if I were going to have a pass it would likely be at Blue due to VIP line, but not having a pass I find Blue the most frustrating place in eastern PA at peak times. Quote

I feel like you get to blue to late. Shoot for 730am so you can be all booted up and ready for first chair. 2 Quote

Dont ski at Blue at peak times. For that matter, dont ski anywhere at peak times. Oh, and i hate the whole water park thing at CB. That one lift, that kind of seems to be the main lift, and it goes directly over all the water park stuff. Kind of reminds me of a circus. Montage doesnt bother me as much at all, since its kinda close to the lodge and really only pass by it once. Edited March 28, 2017 by JFskiDan 1 Quote
