Ive debating which state is better for skiing.  not counting laws, aspres ski, travel, etc, just pure skiing.  i am pretty torn.  while jackson hole is my all time favorite resort, it cannot be denied that colorado and utah are the 2 biggest skiing states in the county.  colorado has breck and vail which are sweet (A basin sucks and lacks terrain) but utah has solitude, brighton, and park city/canyons, and snowbird.  id rank breck and  vail above utah resorts, but after that utah has better resorts.  solitude and brighton are both better than steamboat, a basin, keystone, and copper for instance.  snowbird is legit when there is fresh snow.

I've never skied in Utah but seems as though Utah has better snow and Colorado has more resorts...I think you should go to Montana next winter. I'd say go to big sky and Bridger bowl but you'll likely find something wrong about them.

big sky had the best condtions of any trip out west ive ever been on

Big sky does 1/3 the skier visits as Steamboat and is larger

colorado made me appreciate the almost zero lift lines in jackson and big sky.  steamboat gondola was 30 mins each morning and lift lines on the lower part of steamboat and vail were 15 mins.  upper mountain lifts were fine

You were at Jackson hole during one of their slowest times of the year and were at steamboat during one of their busiest times of the year. It's not apples to apples.

30 minute liftline for gondola at steamboat wow is that at like 830?? Also at steamboat their free parking is in freaking Kansas. Actually when I go to copper I pay $20 to park right at the base of the super bee lift

true, but i was at jackson during MLK weekend as well and it was empty as shit, although the tram was down that year.  steamboat was least croweded on the weekend, were able to park in the free lot that is walking distance, but during the week had to park and take the shuttle.  gondola had 30 minute lift lines til about noon each day

MLK weekend is an uncrowded time at Jackson hole. JH is dead from January 2nd until early February and busy before and after that time period.

Lift line at the Gondola first thing in the morning will pretty much always have a line.  I typically only ride the gondola once a day when im there though.   I dont recall any other times having a huge line at steamboat at any other lift.  Stood in some fairly impressive lines at Snowbird though, which i will go on record as saying thats not one of my favorite places to ski.  Maybe just for that reason, i dont know, but i could die happy and not ski Snowbird again, as long as there is somewhere else to ski.  I really like Brighton.  I do like Snowbasin for their big huge groomers if the legs cant take another day in the woods.

And above snowbird as well??

ya, but both times ive been to snowbird it was bumped up pretty good.  more snow and my opinion could change.  as of now i like brighton and solitude better than snowbird

I'm the opposite. Bird (which I put above every place I've skied including Squaw Valley) then Soli / brighton... both of which are equally awesome. I've only been to steamboat and winter park in CO so I can't really compare. All I know is that my future plans include a a lot more time in Utah.

Doug I think you would like Snowbird.

Yeah what's kept me from there is that I've always heard it's super crowded at snowbird. Maybe next season I'll do a trip in Utah. I'm not hitting PowMow though. My friends who live out there even confirmed that it's super flat and that the lifts are super slow.

blue probably was as well lol.  my tuesday in colorado was icy death lol

You're right blue was better. And keep Vermont out out of a Rocky Mountain thread. That's like having shoshanna in a thread about models..SMHerman.
