Ski2Live Live2Ski Posted March 21, 2017 Report Posted March 21, 2017 I know they have had a rough season. Where do folks think will have the best skiing within 2-3 hours of Denver at that time? Got a R/T for $38 with a free place to stay. Quote
Shadows Posted March 21, 2017 Report Posted March 21, 2017 Rt is round trip? Cant be. 2-3 hours of denver is literally all of the majors. You could do aspen if its midweek traffic Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted March 21, 2017 Report Posted March 21, 2017 (edited) Colorado has had a good season and by then might just be abasin and Loveland open. Don't know if Aspen will still be open then but it's well over 3 hours drive from Denver vs 1-1.5 hours for Abasin and Loveland Edited March 21, 2017 by GrilledSteezeSandwich Quote
Ski2Live Live2Ski Posted March 21, 2017 Author Report Posted March 21, 2017 (edited) $38 cost is cause I had a $100 voucher and friend had a $200 voucher and we got 2 RTs for a total of $338 so I paid the $38 overage. Probably worth it just for the FF miles. Free room in Ft Collins while we are there. Aspen too far. What about Copper, is that a decent late season bet too? Website shows till the 16th..so even if they extend a week you're out of luck. Fort Collins is an hour north of Denver and about 2 hours from Loveland and ABasin. You might be better off getting a hotel room in Dillon or Silverthorne to save the 4 hours of round trip driving each day. 1 Quote
toast21602 Posted March 21, 2017 Report Posted March 21, 2017 Good beer in Fort Collins. Go check out RM NP and some breweries. I imagine it's beautiful there in the spring. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote
Ski2Live Live2Ski Posted March 21, 2017 Author Report Posted March 21, 2017 (edited) Will probably get a room closer for one night if we decide ski conditions are good enough to warrant spending both our days skiing. Also going to visit a friend in Ft.C. Edited March 21, 2017 by Ski2Live Live2Ski Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted March 21, 2017 Report Posted March 21, 2017 What airline are you flying for only $169 round trip to Denver?? Quote
Ski2Live Live2Ski Posted March 21, 2017 Author Report Posted March 21, 2017 (edited) Frontier from Philly. 50% off sale Mon to Thurs. Flying home 1am Monday so return was half price. At this price, I can deal with well post peak skiing. Edited March 21, 2017 by Ski2Live Live2Ski Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted March 21, 2017 Report Posted March 21, 2017 (edited) The 25th is a Tuesday. Most terrain at Loveland and Abasin should be open then. You might even score a powder day. Are the dates really 22nd and 23rd? Edited March 21, 2017 by GrilledSteezeSandwich 1 Quote
Ski2Live Live2Ski Posted March 21, 2017 Author Report Posted March 21, 2017 (edited) Yeah my mistake, dates are 22nd and 23rd Now looking to get 26-28 days this season, blowing away my former record of 21. Edited March 21, 2017 by Ski2Live Live2Ski 1 Quote

Way to get after it!! Are you flying out on Thursday? Frontier....lol. 50% off and 50% chance of cancelation. I wonder what baggage fees are on Frontier. A reason I like southwest when I'm not on atomic Jeffs elite status with United is the free baggage. I haven't booked my trip yet for the 11th-18th cause flight prices and times are all over the place. Rental car is cheap I believe $350 for a midsize SUV for a week from Alamo. After that prob not taking any vacation time until July. Quote
JFskiDan Posted March 21, 2017 Report Posted March 21, 2017 Frontiers seats are cheap. Baggage fees are funny. They charge for carry on baggage. Lol. Quote

I think spirit does as well...there's actually Jet Blue flights to Denver but none of them are direct. I want to fly virgin airlines again sometime soon. Maybe to LA. I flew Virgin to London years ago and that's the best airline I've flown and they have a new premium economy that looks legit. 1 Quote
theprogram4 Posted March 21, 2017 Report Posted March 21, 2017 (edited) frontier is $30 for check in, $35 for carry on. most ghetto airline i have ever flown in...the seats are 30% smaller than normal airline seats. they are not regular airline seats with floating seat cushions, they are hard plastic office chairs with a small layer of padding on top. you also have to pay for water lol. still would fly them again cause they are cheap Edited March 21, 2017 by theprogram4 1 Quote

Got it. $50 each way for bags on a ski trip kinda defeats the purpose of the cheap flight. I'll stick with AA or Southwest. 1 Quote

Ski2Live Live2Ski Posted March 21, 2017 Author Report Posted March 21, 2017 (edited) Just gonna bring the "personal item" (8x14x18) they let you bring for free and rent ski gear out there. Flying out Friday at 7pm, flying back early Monday red eye. Lightning trip, missing no work, but for $38 plus lift tix, ski rental and half a car rental it will be a fun weekend with my buddies. Wonder if I can wear my helmet onto the plane. Edited March 21, 2017 by Ski2Live Live2Ski Quote

theprogram4 Posted March 21, 2017 Report Posted March 21, 2017 TP4 how much did you spend on airport parking? Like $140? we took uber from mark's girls place in philly to the airport, then she picked us up when we got back. mark was oringinally supposed to stay 2 days more, but changed his flight to come back with me. saved my ass cause i would have had to lug my stuff on the train to conshohocken. my dad offered numerous times to pick me up from the airport, but i would feel bad making him drive 1 hour each way to get me. Nice I don't ask people to drive me to the airport because I don't want to do it for them. Economy lot at philly is $14 a day. Economy lot at Newark is $18 per day but I use the parking spot which is a little cheaper and more convenient. Quote
