JFskiDan Posted September 21, 2017 Report Posted September 21, 2017 For a minute i got excited when i saw 700 trees, but its just 700 trees to stare at, not ski in. So, they did maintenance. I guess they need something to justify the price of the SP. Not hating on the place, just hating on the price of the SP. 1 Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted September 21, 2017 Report Posted September 21, 2017 Good price on season passes for 75+ people. Has elk added any new lifts since 1994? New carpet in the cafeteria wow just wow. Quote

We say the first run costs us $695 (senior rate) and All the Rest are FREE.... 1 Quote

We say the first run costs us $695 (senior rate) and All the Rest are FREE.... Its all location based in PA. If i lived close to Elk, i would be handing them too much money for a season pass and enjoying myself. It does kill me though, that they probably have the best terrain for trees that are off limits. Johnny Law Posted September 21, 2017 Report Posted September 21, 2017 I feel like for the last 100 years they claim they've added hundreds of trees.....unless it looked like the moon before it should be the god damn amazon rain forest by now 6 Quote
Old Geezer Posted September 22, 2017 Report Posted September 22, 2017 I think I called it out last year, or the year before. Elk may be the only ski area where re-painting the stripes in a parking lot is considered an annual improvement. That's why you gotta like the place, it stays the same year after year. 2 Quote
moe ghoul Posted September 22, 2017 Report Posted September 22, 2017 I think they are creating density to discourage tree skiing. 2 Quote
theprogram4 Posted September 22, 2017 Report Posted September 22, 2017 elk is the only mountain ive been to in the past 10 years where more people were not wearing helmets than those that are. however, most of them were 60+ and I know old people are stubborn when it comes to helmets, seatbelts, etc. some of the old guys in my ice hockey league refuse to wear face masks 1 Quote
RidgeRacer Posted September 24, 2017 Report Posted September 24, 2017 I don't know about you but that new kitchen equipment really gets me stoked. I think they are creating density to discourage tree skiing. You're probably right. Do they not see the irony in comparing it to Vermont then? And why people should rip them for doing so? I say this all the time. Cool place but their marketing is terrible. 1 Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted September 24, 2017 Report Posted September 24, 2017 (edited) Maybe they got a new BizHub machine in their business office. Fax and copy from the same machine and you can even print from your computer on it..oh Lordy. Look at trees, fresh oil in the new deep fryer and making copies. Ride Delaware ? Posted September 25, 2017 Report Posted September 25, 2017 They do provide a real nice wind break. I'm just going to try to grow my business as much as possible so I can buy the place when it goes up for sale in 10 years and make it what it should be... 1 Quote

I'm only at work to make money. I've already had three families in the office so far today and only sold to one of them. When I have enough money to retire I'm done. 2 Quote

GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted October 2, 2017 Report Posted October 2, 2017 Tombstones are a dying business It sure is with the death rate on the decline and the cremation rate rising. Another 10-12 years and I'm done Quote
Ski2Live Live2Ski Posted October 2, 2017 Report Posted October 2, 2017 It was a joke, not a terribly good one, but an attempt at least :-) Quote
rummy Posted October 2, 2017 Author Report Posted October 2, 2017 Hey rummy, how is this going to go over with the locals? An unfortunate upgrade to the parking lot at the bottom of the Lenape. The sign's been there for a while....the fence WTF,??, they sure are alienating the regulars who support them.. Management will probably say you can still access the quad, you just can't ski to it anymore. Octoberfest this weekend, I'll probably get some feedback. Quote
Ride Delaware ? Posted October 3, 2017 Report Posted October 3, 2017 Isn't that basically the same as the upper lot concept? I guess I didn't realize you could ski down to the quad from a lot. Thought most of the lots were at the bottom regardless... Quote
rummy Posted October 3, 2017 Author Report Posted October 3, 2017 I guess I didn't realize you could ski down to the quad from a lot. That's the reason the location was so well liked. There was no need to ride the Elk Wagon or buy a parking pass to the upper parking lot on the weekends. You still needed a valid pass to get on the quad, but you'd be able to start skiing immediately. It also made those peace trips to your car in the parking lot easy... Quote
