rummy Posted October 10, 2017 Author Report Posted October 10, 2017 Nice purchase rummy. How was Oktoberfest? That belongs on the wall of the halfway house! Good crowd there Saturday, lifts were busy all day. The ride is now $5 (used to be $3). We didn't go over on Sunday, showers and overcast. The leaves were not at their peak. Eli, (of Mark and Eli fame) made the sign. He had about 30 pieces of his art set up for sale. He said "I thought someone would get it.." It's hanging at our cabin, but would have fit in nicely at the half-way house. Probably wouldn't have lasted long before being confiscated though. Quote

Ride Delaware ? Posted October 19, 2017 Report Posted October 19, 2017 But not even Vermont is $800, no?It's like every state. Some passes are more expensive than others. Most of the big players used to be in the $1,000 plus range. Killington was $1,350, Sugarbush $1,800, and Stowe $2,000. However, with Stowe being bought by Vail, the passes have all dropped. Sugarbush is only $850, as is the Epic Pass. Smaller areas like Bolton Valley and Magic can still be had at $400 ish... Quote

Wife lived in NH and had the pass for Loon and others and were less than $300, especially if college students or residents. Going out west, yes, daily passes are nuts but the season passes were quite reasonable. I suppose if you live up there and can go every day makes sense. Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted October 19, 2017 Report Posted October 19, 2017 Jackson holes season pass right now is $1985. Quote
rummy Posted October 19, 2017 Author Report Posted October 19, 2017 Snow making is very expensive and Required in PA. Also Elk doesn't get the crowds Blue and the Pocs get. Another reason is "because they can get it".... I think they've realized the price is about maxed out, as they haven't changed their prices in three years. And the draft beer is cheap in the bar. Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted October 19, 2017 Report Posted October 19, 2017 How much for draft beer at the bar at elk?? Quote
rummy Posted October 20, 2017 Author Report Posted October 20, 2017 Tree-fiddy... Miller light But they have about 15 different beers on tap... Hey Jeff help me out.. Quote
Rex Goliath Posted October 20, 2017 Report Posted October 20, 2017 Only cash in the bar at Elk too! Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted October 20, 2017 Report Posted October 20, 2017 Only cash in the bar at Elk too! I'm sure they have an ATM machine nearby with a high service fee Quote
rummy Posted October 20, 2017 Author Report Posted October 20, 2017 Of course, other end of lodge near ticket windows.. Quote
Maksim Posted October 20, 2017 Report Posted October 20, 2017 Humn, Elk is not as far as I thought it was from central jersey. Could be interesting. Need to move to PA faster. lol. Quote
RidgeRacer Posted October 20, 2017 Report Posted October 20, 2017 $800 for a season pass? WTF?! That is more than skiing out west. lol. I have never skied Elk but.... why $800? Because you don't really ski on snow at Elk. Instead you're actually skiing on flakes of white gold which were mined in Vermont and imported to Clark's Summit PA. There the "snow" is pasteurized and homogenized for skiing then shipped to Elk for distribution on its slopes which, by the way, were hand cut a few hundred years ago as part of a peace treaty by the indigenous people of Northeastern Pennsylvania and the European settlers. The reason that the lifts are slow at Elk (and not many people know this) is because they have a colony of smurfs actually living under the mountain (known simply as "Smurf Village" to the locals) that manually spin the lifts via a system of pulleys. The smurfs demand a fair wage and rightly so! So think about that $800 now and you'll see that you're actually getting a great deal! 5 Quote
