I'm here now. Arrived at 8 and am breaking for lunch. It's really good, though starting to get scraped a bit. It's been wet snow all morning but you can see and feel the layer of ice under everything. No crowds, of course. They are blowing snow in a bunch of diff locations.

(We have exams this week; mine is tomorrow, but I don't have to proctor today, so I'm free to shred the blues in old lady style.

I will stay into the evening because I like marathon days. Plus it's damn fun!

Oh, trails! Night-Weaver was scrapey, but main st and sidewinder are winners. Lazy is great fun. The terrain park trail next to Main st is closed for snowmaking. Paradise is only so-so. Lot of ice patches already.

switch was fun but looks to be treacherous after some use scrapes the natural off

I'm heading up to blue soon. I was gonna wait until later when it's snowing heavily but don't wanna be at work anymore as it's boring. I don't know how long I'll be up there.  It's not even snowing now in Allentown but looks to be snowing on the Blue cams.  Anyway I should be there around 130 at the latest.  I might head up first thing tomorrow as well depending on how much snow falls overnight.

thanks for the run breakdown. Sounds like conditions to stick to the sides of the trails and be light on your feet.  Temperature is rising maybe the ice will soften a bit.

Can't speak to challenge personally but people on the lift said it was good. No beginners here today to scrape it clean, I imagine

If Razors is good I'll just ski that the whole time.  I didn't get on it at all Sunday due to the racing. Oh yeah and I have a few secret stashes that should yield Edge to binding deep pow pow.

Really want to check out Montages glades. I hope they groom the powder on most of the trails. Also I might ski the glades next to my house. I have a large forested area on a hill.

Get some skins. TRM's have some pretty neat ones. Not too expensive.

There's nothing stopping me from driving there now, other than I don't want to do the drive 3 days in a row.  Might as well get some shit done today.

unless you want to ruin your skis, I would advise against venturing into the woods at montage. there was almost no cover in there. they need at least 12 inches to provide adequate coverage.

Thanks. Don't want to scratch up my new RTMs. I believe it was your post which convinced me to give Montage another try since you said their snow quality was really good. For me Its between Jack Frost and Montage tomorrow. Im ok taking slower lifts sometimes for better snow.

If you want glades go to frost. Should be great since they are closed at night.

The glades should be really nice but I think I'll opt for Montage because I haven't skiied boomer or smoke yet, and I want to ski top to bottom on runaway or fast track now that they finally have most of the mountain open. I try to get to every local mountain at least once each season.

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Mount Holly NJ
201 PM EST Tue Jan 16 2018

.SYNOPSIS...
A ridge of high pressure will weaken across the area today. A
low pressure system and front will approach from the Great Lakes
region tonight. Another low will develop off the coast and
affect the weather tonight and early Wednesday. More high
pressure will build towards the area late this week and remain
for the weekend. Low pressure and a cold front will move towards
the Middle Atlantic region for the start of next week.

&&

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING/...
-- Changed Discussion --
A complete update to the forecast was published late this
morning. A new storm total snow graphic and experimental
probabilistic graphics were sent to the web as well. These
updates required headline changes. The key changes in the
forecast are listed below:

(1) Upgraded to a Winter Storm Warning for Carbon and Monroe
Counties in PA and Sussex County in NJ with 5-7" of snowfall
(including the 1" or less that has fallen so far) expected for
this event. Hi-res models are keying in on strong mesoscale
banding on the northwestern side of the developing coastal low
late this evening and overnight over the southern Poconos and
continuing into the Wednesday morning commute for northwestern
NJ.

(2) Tweaked the start/end times for the Winter Weather
Advisories with an emphasis on delaying the onset of
accumulating snow to the S/E of the Lehigh Valley, southern
Poconos and far NW NJ (where light snow is ongoing). See the
experimental onset timing graphic on our winter webpage for
specifics.

(3) Introduced more mixing E of the Fall Line, especially early
on in the event. Temps this afternoon in the 40s along/E of
I-95 and mid to upper 30s just to the west. Just about all of
the guidance shows this residual warm boundary layer present at
the onset of precipitation tonight, resulting in mainly rain
along and E of I-95 at the onset and a rain-snow mix just to the
N/W. CAA and dynamical cooling will allow for a changeover to
snow from NW to SE toward early morning but expect riming and
melting at the surface to result in lower snow ratios and thus
snowfall amounts near and especially south of I-78 as well as
east of I-287.

(4) Emphasized window for heavy snow with snowfall rates of 1-2"
per hour late tonight across NE PA and N NJ. The heavy snow
potential extends into the first half of Wednesday morning
along and east of the DE Valley. This means significant impacts
for the morning commute. Even though snowfall amounts are
generally lower than warning criteria for Warren and Morris
Counties in NJ (3-6"), we will have to consider upgrading to a
warning based on impact on the morning rush.
