Popular Post Barb Posted November 7, 2018 Popular Post Report Posted November 7, 2018 Several resorts opened early today; Breck, Keystone and Eldora. I was tempted to go to Eldora but opening day with one run open decided against it. Loveland has 3 t2b runs open and they have had several feet of new snow this week. Left Boulder at 7am not figuring the traffic would be bad on I-70 with Breck opening today. There was zero traffic. Since I was about 40 min until the first chair started spinning I decided to boot up in the lodge. Omg how luxurious it felt! My new boots felt incredibly light weight and went right on my feet like butter. Did all my runs on Mambo (which is a green) just to get my legs back. After 3 runs my toes started going numb. Figured it was due to the cold. After 5 runs I absolutely could not feel them and had to go inside. Since my boots are new I am thinking I cranked them down too hard since it was in the mid 20’s with sunshine. When the blood started getting back into them they hurt incredibly bad for about 5-10 min. If I didn’t come inside I would have done a few more runs but once I had my boots off I really didn’t feel like putting them back on again. The snow was pretty nice, especially for early season. I never waited more than 5 minutes for a chair. Overall a great first day for me! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 10 1 Quote
JFskiDan Posted November 7, 2018 Report Posted November 7, 2018 i saw they opened early. so jealous. Im gonna assume you didnt wear your boots around the house before hand, like while cleaning the house? sounds like you just need to get your feet in them for a little while yet and get your settings really dialed in. 1 Quote
Barb Posted November 7, 2018 Author Report Posted November 7, 2018 No Dan I did not wear them walking around the house. Next day out I am going to wear them a click looser. Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted November 7, 2018 Report Posted November 7, 2018 Nice report do you wear boot warmers?? If you have a stiffer and tighter boot they might help. Quote

Barb Posted November 7, 2018 Author Report Posted November 7, 2018 (edited) Good advice thanks! And sometimes I put a hot pack in them but didn’t think I would need one today. Edited November 7, 2018 by Barb Quote

Ride Delaware ? Posted November 8, 2018 Report Posted November 8, 2018 Nice report Barb. I’m surprised there was even a 5 minute wait. Are lots of schools off for the day after Election Day?Are you allowed to wear your boots around the hotel Steeze? Or do they have signs that say “no ski boots”? Quote

Abasin has had longish lifelines everyday this week cause it keeps dumping and they only have one lift open. Quote
Barb Posted November 8, 2018 Author Report Posted November 8, 2018 Lots of ski team kids. When they all rolled up to the lift that’s when it got to be 5 min. Wonder what arrangement the school does with them so they can have mornings off. Quote

Kids go to school in the summer and have off in the winter. I know that isn’t true, but I wish I lived in a world where it was... 1 Quote

Barb Posted November 8, 2018 Author Report Posted November 8, 2018 (edited) Definitely had my boots too tight. My big toenails feel bruised this morning. Live and learn. Edited November 8, 2018 by Barb Quote

That’s something I need to remember to do before first ski day is clip my toenails. I don’t even start cranking my boots tight until several days into ski season. Your feet expand during the summer from wearing sandals and being barefoot a lot. 1 Quote
