Popular Post RidgeRacer Posted February 27, 2019 Popular Post Report Posted February 27, 2019 Arrived in the LP not too long ago. Snowed pretty much from the Catskills to Lake Placid. Didn't make road conditions too terrible on 87 but definitely forced me to keep the speeds down a bit. Still made pretty good time despite that. 73 (the road through Kean into LP) was sketchy in spots (pic below) which hopefully means good things for conditions on the mountain tomorrow. The stoke levels are pretty high right now. Headed to town now to find food and maybe a birthday present for my wife. 12 1 Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted February 27, 2019 Report Posted February 27, 2019 Nice, where are you staying? Do you have enough towels?? 1 Quote
RidgeRacer Posted February 27, 2019 Author Report Posted February 27, 2019 Place called Cobble mountain Lodge. Second time staying there. At a pizza joint now. Most stores in town closed at 6. Note to self for tomorrow. Quote
RidgeRacer Posted February 27, 2019 Author Report Posted February 27, 2019 Snowing pretty good now. Missed not being able to see the high peaks on the way in. Quote
tarponhead Posted February 28, 2019 Report Posted February 28, 2019 Eat at Smoke Signals. And let me know if upper empire is open. All the years going only open once and it was awesomeEnjoy! 1 1 Quote
RidgeRacer Posted February 28, 2019 Author Report Posted February 28, 2019 The 3 to 5 forcasted on whiteface.com this morning has vanished. Saying an inch now but I feel like an inch has fallen in town since I've been here. Their conditions page doesn't seem too reliable. We'll see what the the official word is in the morning. Tarpon will do. Not banking on upper empire, lookout below or Hoyts high unfortunately. Quote

There’s supposed to be snow showers all night long..there’ll be at least a few inches up high..and doesn’t look like much wind which is rare for there. 1 Quote
moe ghoul Posted February 28, 2019 Report Posted February 28, 2019 Sharpen yer edges. Hopefully, the snow will soften up a bit as it gets a little warmer in the next few days. Quote
RidgeRacer Posted February 28, 2019 Author Report Posted February 28, 2019 Looking like 1 - 3 inches of snow officially with bright sunshine this morning. Upper Empire is listed as closed as is Lookout Below. Hoyts High however is reopened as well as everything else I care about skiing (not counting the slides of course). Should be fun! 2 Quote

RidgeRacer Posted February 28, 2019 Author Report Posted February 28, 2019 Have a blast. Free breakfast at hotel or are you going out for some pancakes. No breakfast. Not really a hotel. More like a bunch of cabins. In room coffee though and I stocked up on nature valley bars at the gas station last night so I'm good. 4 Quote
