emtp563 Posted November 8, 2005 Author Report Posted November 8, 2005 Nice pictures, I last skied Stowe in late March but the pictures of Lake Champlain bring back memories of when I was in college. Did you ride the Alpine Slide at Stowe? My wife and kid did- I took the pictures: Quote
skidude Posted November 8, 2005 Report Posted November 8, 2005 Awesome, I rode the alpine slide at C-Back before I even started to ski. The one at Stowe is shorter but still fun. Back when inline skating was more popular in the mid 90s, they used to have an inline skate park near the alpine slide. They had a mitey mite lift pull rollerbladers up a tiny hill with slalom gates and stuff but also a few ramps. Its not shorter anymore Quote
skierboi Posted November 8, 2005 Report Posted November 8, 2005 i went to the ben and jerrys factory when i was up there for the Sugar slalom in April.. MMMMMM...good icecream Quote
emtp563 Posted November 8, 2005 Author Report Posted November 8, 2005 I was at Stowe the day of the weekend of the Sugar Slalom, poor visibility and rain. I think I only did Nosedive 2-3 times the whole weekend. I remember a small stream running down the middle of the run. How were your results? When I had a season pass at Stowe during college, I would always stop at the cabot cheese place on the way back and gorge myself on free samples. You know what- the Cabot Cheese employees were actually bitchcing about that. We were there one Winter and there were a bunch of deatbeat losers there pillaging the free samples then leaving without buying anything. The employees were not happy at all. They definitely didn't have any kind words to say. Quote
emtp563 Posted November 8, 2005 Author Report Posted November 8, 2005 Well when those deadbeat losers make money they'll come back and buy cheese and gourmet food. Sometimes I would buy the smallest size apple cidar for .75 and then munch on all the cheese samples. The Cabot employees were also probably pissed because the deadbeat losers were skiing/riding snow while they were cutting up cheese. I doubt it. They are there to make money, just like any other business. Picture in your mind 30 "dead beat losers" eating all the free samples every day, seven days a week for the length of the entire ski season. That's a lot of product that the store does not get for free, they have to pay for that only to have these people waltzing in, eating the samples, then leaving. When I go there, at least I buy some of the cheese I taste- that's the purpose for the samples being there in the first place. When I say "eating the samples" I mean not just eating a few pieces of cheese and crackers, I'm talking about a pack of vultures eating EVERYTHING not nailed down. I was offended when I was there when I saw this. The place was indeed PACKED with these deadbeat losers- YES- DEADBEAT LOSERS not letting the paying customers who are with their families and children taste the samples and even move about the store freely. They are indeed quite rude and do act like ranenous ANIMALS who have not eaten in a week. I don't know how old you are, but think of this from an "adult" perspective. Quote
emtp563 Posted November 8, 2005 Author Report Posted November 8, 2005 Touchy, Then Cabot should kick those people out ( huge Marketing mistake). It's private property so they can ask them to leave. If they are in your way when you taste the samples, say excuse me. They have like 27 kinds of cheese samples, plus chips and salsa, and always very good crackers like stoned wheat thins. I think of it like a wine tasting. Most customers buy several bottles of wine and a few use the winery for free wine. I never got kicked out and the few dollars in free cheese I ate in college will translate into lots of cheese purchases in the future. You can even buy Cabot at Wegmans. I'm done talking about cheese....forever. Me too dude, the cheese isn't even that great ;-) Quote
poconoceancity Posted November 8, 2005 Report Posted November 8, 2005 Doug now that we are done fighting over cheese, where in VT did you go to school? Quote
