Hello

New to the Forum

I’m 48 and got back into skiing last year

I ski around 5-6 times per season at Shawnee

I think I’m Ok and I want to get to the next level. I do a lot of sliding ,when I really should learn to carve

I have my own boots and love them

they made a big difference

question is if I should buy Skies I see people say renting is better

also what type of skies considering Shawnee and the like doesn’t have the best snow

Yeah, instead of renting, try demoing.

Some of the mountain ski shops will allow you, for a fee, to demo different skis to help you decide on what you might like to own to fit your ability, terrain, style, etc.

You could also rent skis for a whole season from most ski shops, then you would always have skis with you and not have to visit the rental shop every trip. A good ski shop will rent skis based on your ability and seasonal goals.  Also, get a lesson of two this season. The more you ski the better you will become.
