In general no, but occasionally we’ll have a busy day.  Last week was super dead during the week, but Saturday was very busy.  Monday and Tuesday this week were super dead, but today we were getting some walk ins.  We are thinking maybe people are starting to get stir crazy and just going out anyway

Doug's business has been dead.

Friend of mine texted today that he’s going stir crazy and wanted to go out.  I told him I’m self-quarantining and that he should do the same!

Do you think people are coming in to  look at cars because they’re bored? No intention of buying?

I would say more than usual, but nothing drastic.  Saturday’s customers were pretty serious, today seemed more like people coming in with their kids looking to drive mustangs and raptors

Ugh, and they say boomers aren’t taking this seriously.

No it’s not the boomers at all. it’s the fucking idiots my age (under 30) that have this everlasting need to be around people and be “seen” 24/7.

It’s definitely still the boomers too.

Who's "they"??

I think boomers are probably the ones taking it most seriously, as old people are too scared of going out for fear of catching it and young people think they don't get it and continue like nothing's happening.

I think across the board people aren't taking it as seriously as they should, with older people who may not have the information and younger people who are selfish being the ones that aren't taking it seriously enough. I've definitely seen a change in that over the last few days because it is getting significantly more serious. It probably doesn't help to blame one group of people or an other. We just need to all work together to get through this as it continues to worsen.

Boomers are old people.

Is the cash only culture that big?  And as far as cash goes, can the virus be transmitted VIA cash?

I still will never understand people "going to look at cars"  Seems like a huge waste of time to me.  I have been looking online for a new(er) Tacoma, but until is see something that i like, i wont go.  And even when i do, i start with numbers, and take it from there. Dealerships always want to get you in the car first, so when you get back to the dealership you have already opened your wallet because of all the cool stuff the car did, like get you from point A to point B.

I think alot of people including myself didnt take this serious enough at first.  There are some things going on at work that i strongly disagree with, and i feel like i am becoming wildly unpopular at work.  All of this social distancing will lead to my yard getting all picked up, the second bathroom being un-wallpapered and painted, old shit around the house thrown out, and all of the "tidying up" of the house that i have pushed off during ski season, and of course i can still play cars.  People with not enough to do lack vision.

Update: my place of work is still going strong. I just keep washing my hands a lot and stay in my corner of the room which is thankfully pretty far away from other people. It's not really too concerning for me to come into work right now because I really just keep to myself over here but I feel for the people who are working down on the production floor. It's a lot more dense with people down there in a factory setting and they are constantly touching the machines and passing papers around.

JFDan I looked it up and 31% of US transactions are cash.  I think most of the cash transactions are made by some older people who don’t believe in credit/debit cards.  My former delivery guy never even used an ATM machine cause he said he didn’t want to pay the interest so he would go into the bank to get cash.  Hospitality workers who get tips are always spending cash..also super low income people who don’t have credit cards or bank accounts. Some I’ve noticed also use cash for very small purchases..I’ll use credit card for a pack of gum especially cause that’s my only option if I’m not carrying cash.

JFDan some people like to shop..test drive..figure out if they can afford payments.  I’m not one of those.

Are people at your work not practicing social distancing?  I’m the only person at work..delivery driver is making deliveries and office manager working from home. In another week or so the government might make us stay home except to go to the grocery store or pharmacy.

In my area yes, about 35-40% cash. It’s interesting to see the other store in the “city” and it’s about 10% less.
