We are still only vaccinating 70+ and people with health risks. I keep telling my son to ask his doctor if he can get it since his lung collapsed twice more after his surgery but he is a dope and won’t ask.

Seems like he's having a much rougher time with it than i did. I'd imagine with already diminished lung capacity, adding covid on top of that would really, really suck. Did they do the whole tube in the chest, glue his lung to the inside of his chest cavity kinda thing?

Yes they did, then 4 days after he was released it collapsed again. They did procedure again and he was in for another 11 days. One month follow up scan showed another collapse and they told him to just take it easy. Guess it is slowly repairing itself. Doc said this happens to like 2% of patients, just his luck I guess.

oh man that sucks. it definitely took me a while to be back to normal. i was skiing again after like 2-3 weeks, but i was on camera duty for a few more weeks, not skiing really hard or hitting and jumps or rails or anything for a bit.

My sister in law weighs like 100 lbs (and isn't a front line worker.)

Well, since I don’t know your sister in law, I was obviously talking about Steeze.

The list of acceptable conditions to be in this round (for PA) includes a lot of things like obesity and smoking, that qualifies outwardly “healthy” people.

Or say you’re a smoker. You have to be extremely proactive to get vaccinated now. Every Thursday the Allentown health bureau opens up the following weeks appointments and they fill up in minutes. You can’t wait for people to contact you. I couldn’t fill out the online form fast enough for Allentown so got in for Bethlehem.

It’s an honor system. They aren’t actually weighing people or checking to see if you have a pack of American spirits.  The goal is to get as many vaccines in peoples arms as possible.  I know many folks who’ve already been vaccinated due to their connections.  My sister has already been vaccinated because she works in a school yet has been virtual all year yet my 70+ year old parents haven’t been yet as they have been dragging their feet and now their appointments meant for the middle of this month have been put off due to a lack of vaccines in Virginia. They tried to get appointments for Allentown and no dice because they aren’t residents.

Smoking is saving lives!

This reminds me of the office scene where Dwight intentionally lights a fire and says today smoking will save lives.

I was scrolling through Bethlehem EMS Facebook photos from yesterday and found this of me in line for my second vaccine dose at the casino.
The first few hours were fine yesterday evening, and then my arm got sore again like my first dose right before I went to bed. Today I woke up and felt like a bus hit me. Achy all over, bad headache, and a fever. Could barely move. I ended up sleeping most of the day other than meetings. After 24 hours I’m starting to feel better, but whew, it was rough most of today.
Hopefully I’ll be good to go tomorrow. Definitely was a rough patch with that immune response, but beats an ET tube stuffed down my throat. For those getting the vaccine soon, try and take a day off after round two if you can.

After 26-28 hour range it was like somebody flipped a switch and I was back to feeling fine. My fever broke and then all I had was the standard sore arm.
It was surprising how quickly things changed.

Wifey and I got Moderna vaccine last Thursday at Weis in Brodheadsville. No unusual reaction. A couple weeks after second shot scheduled for 3/4 and we should be golden (except for the South Africa variant).
