Popular Post toast21602 Posted December 19, 2020 Popular Post Report Posted December 19, 2020 PASR group XC at Jacobsburg State Park this afternoon was a ton of fun. Shout out to @mbike-ski for the elite loaner gear and for @Mixilplix for picking up my pieces every time I fell. @AtomicSkier joined in as well to test out his new skinz. We ended up doing about 3 miles from the environmental center up the ridge to the meadows and then back down through Henry's Woods. I was surprised at the amount of xc track that was already laid. Saw a few other people out there as well. Good shit. Looking forward to doing it again. I'm currently browsing gear online because this was an absolute blast. 6 2 4 1 Quote

mbike-ski Posted December 20, 2020 Report Posted December 20, 2020 Was an awesome afternoon , look for NNN BC stuff, metal edge skis - burlier than the NNN setup you ski’d but lighter and quicker than the 3 pins Mixilpix and I were onSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 5 1 Quote

mbike-ski Posted December 20, 2020 Report Posted December 20, 2020 I got most of my stuff from Onion River Sports and STP, unfortunately ORS is no more and STP ain't what it used to be, but you can still get some deals 1 Quote

Mixilplix Posted December 21, 2020 Report Posted December 21, 2020 I feel XC skiing has gained some popularity with social distancing regulations.....Prolly snowshoeing too... 1 Quote

Or maybe because we received a rare early snowstorm. Now out west there will for sure be record backcountry and avalanche deaths. I’ve heard it’s a junkshow out there with noobs in the backcountry. Barb Posted December 21, 2020 Report Posted December 21, 2020 I feel XC skiing has gained some popularity with social distancing regulations.....Prolly snowshoeing too...I agree with this. My friend bought a XC setup March of last year. The shop was out of just about everything and she had to order it. Took so long to come in she didn’t even get to use it last season. My setup is probably over 20 years old. I did a XC class I believe thru that environmental center you guys went to. Thought it was fun and bought a setup in the Pocs on an end of season deal. It’s good enough for the 3 or so times per year I get out and use it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
toast21602 Posted December 26, 2020 Author Report Posted December 26, 2020 Big difference from a week ago. Skied across this bridge with @mbike-ski and @Mixilplix last Saturday, ran across it with @AtomicSkier today 🤷♂️ 2 1 2 Quote

Plenty of bigger loops. Especially on the other side of the road. Bigger loops and bigger hills. Also lots of flats, too. 1 Quote

Agreed. One of the most fun days I've had on skis in PA. Just something new to try and a new place to ski. Good people and good beer. Couldn't really go wrong. 1 Quote

Not that I have a lot of faith in the thought, but used to do son's seasonal rentals from Pelican too. Might be worth a shot as well. Quote
Schif Posted January 20, 2021 Report Posted January 20, 2021 From a quick scan/search of the buckman's website it looks like they rent XC gear but only seem to sell (at least on their website) two kinds of boots and no skis. Doesn't look like the website has any kind of touring gear listed either outside of one pair of bindings. Quote
