Popular Post AtomicSkier Posted January 10, 2021 Popular Post Report Posted January 10, 2021 EPIC day at Hunter w/ @GSSucks and @Justo8484. @GSSucks caught up with me somewhere on 87 and arrived at Hunter ~6:50am. Geared up started our skin right as the sun was coming up. This was my first real skin adventure, as my Jacobsburg State Park adventure with @toast21602, @mbike-ski, and @Mixilplix was more to test the gear, and practice changing the skis from uphill to downhill, etc. It was low 20s when we started with a nice breeze which helped regulate body temps. The alpenglow was spot on as we headed up hill. It's a ~1.75 mile tour with 1600ft-ish of gain (I think) and it took us about 50ish minutes with a few stops to adjust venting, take pics, etc. Pretty efficient method to travel uphill. Gear test was pretty successful I thought. We were back down at the car a little after 8 to meet up with @Justo8484, change into dryer clothing, and head back out for a day shredding the gnar. First few runs were 10/10 awesome groomers but lines started to form and stuff got more scraped off. Skied until about 1:30pm with a beer stop somewhere in the middle. Well worth the drive to ski some nice conditions, fast runs, and get a little uphill practice in. TFTI @GSSucks. 15 1 1 Quote
GSSucks Posted January 11, 2021 Report Posted January 11, 2021 Stellar day, fun tour with Jeff to start it off. An early uphill lap always makes me feel like I did something besides drink beers with the boys. The early laps were great, lift lines got a little rowdy but that’s part of skiing Vail East. Let’s do that again before the end of the season, maybe with a few additional friends! Got to test out the new skis as well, not spot on but much more fun than the last pair. More on that to come. Justo8484 Posted January 11, 2021 Report Posted January 11, 2021 Maybe my bindings will arrive some day so I can join you on the uphill next time. Fun day; it was nice skiing somewhere else for a change of pace, especially with the more sustained vert. @GSSucks new skis are fun, mine felt much better after a little love from a gummy stone near the tails, and I still hate the new york thruway. Too bad every single mountain in New York is sold out or I would have considered going somewhere, since I'm not doing anything all weekend. Though I'm not sure I could handle the crowds on a holiday weekend Edited January 15, 2021 by saltyant Quote

Me too, either there or Gore for two days in early February. Or the Skillz if I'm too lazy to drive 5 or 6 hours. I've never skied in NY which is cray-cray Edited January 15, 2021 by saltyant Quote
