Justo8484 Posted February 4, 2021 Report Posted February 4, 2021 Got out for a flat tour around the parks by my house tonight. Not much breaking trail since this route sees a lot of hiker traffic. It’s pretty cool since there are a lot of little bridges across small streams. The lake that the one trail loops around is almost totally frozen, which made for some nice scenery. I also managed to not almost fall in the river tonight, very much unlike when I biked this route last week. Are dynafit toes always a pain to step into, or am I doing something wrong?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 9 Quote
mbike-ski Posted February 4, 2021 Report Posted February 4, 2021 Some good shit ! I headed out along the tracks for a night ski, headlamp took a shit but didn’t need it any ways. So cool to basically ski out the front door - well had to walk a half mile down to the tracks 8 Quote

I finally connected with someone who was like - it looks like they were installed incorrectly. I took them to like a “corporate” Dynafit office in Boulder and they fixed them on site. Justo8484 Posted February 4, 2021 Report Posted February 4, 2021 So i thought about it some more, and I think it has to do with the fact that my boots have a DIN sole, not a 9523 touring sole, which is a bit thicker. There's little shoulder nubs on the binding right in front of the pins that should align the toe lug, but since my soles are thinner, I think they drop down into the toe piece ever so slightly too far to be able to just seamlessly step into them. Gotta see if there's a toe height adjustment I can fiddle with which should solve the issue, I think. 2 Quote
Popular Post Justo8484 Posted February 7, 2021 Popular Post Report Posted February 7, 2021 Took a little detour today and tried to follow in@toast21602’s footsteps. Thanks for breaking trail the other day! Snow was absolutely f’d. 1” sun crust, 2-3” of heavy wet dense queso, then the untouched dry underneath. Some of the most difficult snow I’ve ever tried to turn in.Too bad some xc nerd completely trenched your skin track.Stream crossing getting a little technical, but didn’t have to take the skis off at least.Hoping these smaller storms over the next week get things back in good shape. I saw a few other little zones that look like they could be pretty fun.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 9 2 1 Quote
toast21602 Posted February 7, 2021 Report Posted February 7, 2021 Looks good in the sun! @mbike-ski and I might head back tomorrow depending on the snow, or later in the week depending on future weather. This snow is going to stick around for a bit! 2 Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted February 7, 2021 Report Posted February 7, 2021 Could be a storm Tuesday and Thursday as well. At least in the poke N Hoes 3 Quote

Popular Post toast21602 Posted February 11, 2021 Popular Post Report Posted February 11, 2021 It may not be Colorado, but this line in PA is still pretty damn good. I was able to get some video too for those who want to see it. This afternoon I took a ride over to Blue again to get in a lap on the same line that I did last week after the storm. After a few refresher systems that came through the last week I was hopeful that things remained in good condition. Ended up doing almost the exact same loop as before. The conditions were a bit better than expected since everything remained mostly shaded. The snow was soft and I didn't really break through to any crunch except for when I took my skis off to put skins back on. The skin out is almost as enjoyable as the run down. Its really nice and scenic as long as you don't look up at the power lines 😂 The stream crossing is a getting a bit more spicy as well. Not much separates from a fall a few feet down off the ledge anymore. 10 2 1 Quote

Popular Post GSSucks Posted February 14, 2021 Author Popular Post Report Posted February 14, 2021 I ordered this book at the beginning of the pandemic not knowing the outlook of the season and I started studying. The goal is to check off all of the lines eventually. Huge props to mbike-ski for joining and leaving his house at 3am to make an early push for the summit. Started today with Mount Graylock and skiing the Thunderbolt Race Trail that was built by the CCC in the 1930’s. This was a class A race trail and has a ton of history, there is so much ski history in the north east. This is a great video on the Thunderbolt if you have any interest. We met at the trail head ~730 and it was a warm 5 degrees, till we got skins on and booted up we could not feel our fingers. We took our time on the skin up and made the summit in about 3 hours, chilled at the summit for a bit then started our way down. The snow was great and the skiiing was supper fun natural soft bumps the whole way down. Ended the day with about 6.5 miles and 2600’ of vert. I’m ready for the next one! Done and claimed View from the trail head to the summit Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 6 6 4 1 Quote
