toast21602 Posted February 14, 2021 Report Posted February 14, 2021 (edited) PASR has been filled with a bunch of trash from Salty, but lately there have been some fantastic reports and this is one of them 😍 Edited February 14, 2021 by toast21602 1 2 2 Quote
Johnny Law Posted February 14, 2021 Report Posted February 14, 2021 Not enough boner city's in the world ! An absolute classic and you got it in great conditions. Super super sick skiing, its like the skiing equivalent of Yankee stadium !!!! That book, the slide guide 2 by Drew Hass and the ADK Green trail book is 90% of everything in the east outside of the Chic Chocs. 1 Quote
mbike-ski Posted February 14, 2021 Report Posted February 14, 2021 Excellent day, the snow conditions, weather, views, ice chimes! Thanks again@gssucks !Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 4 Quote

That book, the slide guide 2 by Drew Hass and the ADK Green trail book is 90% of everything in the east outside of the Chic Chocs.I also have the slide guide 2, hopefully I’ll be able to get one or two of them this winter as well. The Thunderbolt is the furthest south in any of the books, knowing that area has been doing quite well with the last few storms it seemed like a no brainer. This shit I’d addictive, I need to start planning the next one! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 5 Quote

toast21602 Posted February 15, 2021 Report Posted February 15, 2021 Just now, skiincy said: There's a lot of PASR to catch up on! I'm interested. Are you heading out this weekend (February 20/21)? Sure. Lets plan something. I guess it depends on what these storms do but I've got nothing in mind and I'm sure others would be willing to join. I had some big deadlines to hit this past weekend but now my next two weekends should be pretty open. Quote
Popular Post PSUFrankenstein Posted February 15, 2021 Popular Post Report Posted February 15, 2021 Keep seeing all these backcountry reports you guys are posting and figured I'd better get off my ass and hike some runs... Checked out a spot just outside of Reading (I'm sure @Johnny Law is familiar with this spot). I swapped a set of bindings on my old Capita board and got to the spot around 2 today. First run was down this rocky mess. Through the woods, around those 2 logs at the bottom in the background, and back to the main trail. Hiked along some more and found some more lines that looked interesting. Took pictures of a few...mostly pretty mellow stuff, winding around trees, etc. Still plenty of snow. First attempt at a video with my phone (watch in the higher quality so it doesnt look like garbage). Clipped a rock and went for a tumble... Got up and started just above this spot... I got a knock-off go pro, still waiting on the memory cards to arrive. Maybe I'll get some videos that don't suck if the snow sticks around. 9 1 1 Quote
Mixilplix Posted February 15, 2021 Report Posted February 15, 2021 @toast21602 you should have Jeff look for some back country XC skis for you...There is a big Nordic center in Crested Butte....He could ship them back to you...Might be worth a shot... Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted February 15, 2021 Report Posted February 15, 2021 There are Nordic skis online for sale for as little as $100 Quote

Good idea. Definitely not as seasonal and crappy as many are listed around here. Quote
Johnny Law Posted February 16, 2021 Report Posted February 16, 2021 It looks like Mt Penn but could be never sink. Mt Penn has more of those stone walls. Thats balling out major ! Boney as shit with a ton of trees down. Just to go from top to bottom there is very impressive! In my whole life I've only skied never sink where the big power line cut you can see from 422 one time. Way to get after it !!! 1 Quote

Yeah it was Neversink...I'd like to explore it a bit more if we get some more snow this week. I know there's some steeper stuff there that I didn't get to. Quote

I know there's some steeper stuff there that I didn't get to. That's super sick !!! Parts of that hill are super steep and end in sheer rock cliffs down to the rail road tracks. My daughter and I hike there alot and that was were I skied years ago. The best line I can think of is park at the end of Klapperthal behind the grave yard and go up like your going to the witches hat. As you go through the last of the switch backs and are walking across the ridge and are in the trees still you'll see natural drainages. The 3 or 4th one closer to where the trail comes out into the open up top where the cellphone tower is where the most clean. At the very bottom right at the tracks it gets very steep and cliffy but you can go straight out the train tracks back to west neversink road right at Massaro. Alternatively you can go all the way up and keep on the trail past the cell phone tower. Eventually you hit a road, neversink mtn or Ganter or Mtn top, I can't remember but go left and up and you'll run straight into the big diagnol power line cut. All that shit is thick with Mtn Laurel but I thought the drainages were better as the water sort of drags all that crap down the hill. 1 Quote
