Blue gets more natural snow than Camelback, despite being more southerly and lower elevation, due to lake effect snow from Beltzville Lake. It's not fair to criticize Camelback because they don't get natural lake effect snow from Beltzville Lake. And Camelback has snowtubing open this weekend which is so rad!!! I’m gonna say you’re wrong. Camelback receives more natural snowfall for two reasons and these two reasons only. Camelback is farther north and it’s at a higher elevation. 1 Quote

saltyant Posted November 22, 2022 Report Posted November 22, 2022 (edited) Wao, to ski Camelback on a Saturday night now costs $82 compared to $39 in 2017! That's an average annual increase of 16.08% compared to an average annual inflation rate increase of 2.55% for the same time period! Sick! Edited November 22, 2022 by saltyant Quote

EdBacon Posted March 25, 2023 Report Posted March 25, 2023 (edited) 1 hour ago, GrilledSteezeSandwich said: https://skiinghistory.org/history/ski-resorts-years-they-were-founded There was also a ski area operating on Camelback Mountain before the extant Camelback was opened in the 60s. Big Pocono Ski area opened for the 1950/51 season and closed in 1955 before ski operations moved slightly west down the mountain and the ski area's investors opened the current Camelback. The old pickup truck used to power the original rope tow is still in the woods off Nile Mile. I know they're not counting that in the date but you gave me an opening to talk about ski area history.
