Popular Post eaf Posted December 22, 2021 Popular Post Report Posted December 22, 2021 I find it totally unfair that after so extensive snowmaking efforts, nobody cared to post a report here, so here goes. If you want a brief summary - it was awesome! The morning started with rain where I live, turned to clear, then to fog on I-78, then back to clear and once more to dense fog around Nazareth, but no worries, there were blue skies awaiting on top of the mountain, reflecting nicely in the thin layer of ice covering the parking lot. Yeah, it was somewhat scary to walk. I missed the rope drop because like my season pass on the opening day, I found my other guest card "cancelled" today, and it took them ages to sort it out in the system, ugh. But conditions were great! Grooming was best or second best of what I've seen this year, firm and frozen at first, but that contributed to surface holding up very well until noon and possibly beyond that. Both Main Street and Burma lifts were spinning, both covered with a layer of ice in the beginning. There were definitely more people than last week with some lines forming at times, but still never felt too crowded on the slopes, now that Burma's open too. It definitely looks much more like true December, with thick base and lots of freshly blown white snow all around. Let's hope they'll overachieve on promises and open something else by Friday! 10 1 1 Quote
toast21602 Posted December 22, 2021 Report Posted December 22, 2021 Nice report! Conditions were great today and it was so nice to have Burma open. Quote

antman12 Posted December 23, 2021 Report Posted December 23, 2021 Very fun night! Pretty much all scrapped off by the time I got there at 415 though. Glad to have Burma back and a new park set up. Guns blasting all over the mountain…is it Sunday yet?? 3 2 Quote
indiggio Posted December 23, 2021 Report Posted December 23, 2021 I had planned to write a report, but my ADHD kicked in and got distracted. Went to put a letter in the mailbox prior to departure, only to find the mailbox door frozen shut. I immediately thought back to the WFMZ alert I received earlier about possibly icy road conditions, so I knew I had better drive carefully. It's good I did because I soon realized there was black ice around, which probably attributed to the 3 wrecks I passed by on the way to Blue. With the cold temps, I was expecting some chalky cord, only to find solid frozen cord that was quickly scraped off to fairly solid ice, that persisted until I left around 11. Unless you had some solid edges, you weren't carving a turn on that surface. However, after the sun came over the @RidgeRacer, lower Midway did start to soften, so later conditions may have been better. Unfortunately there would be no 3D surface. Due to the freezing fog that settled on the chair lift supports, wheels and cable, everyone was provided a Blue Mountain polka-dot bling to their outfit. As mentioned in another post, we found it strange that they blew all over the mountain, but gave absolutely no love to Tut's?? If they plan to open the valley up, they're gonna have to hit Tut's hard last night and hopefully get a little more chance tonight, we'll see. I suspect that Tut's is just going to be a WROD perhaps, just to get people back to the summit area. 5 Quote
AirheadD8 Posted December 23, 2021 Report Posted December 23, 2021 (edited) When I left last night they were blowing tuts but looking like Northampton county got all the snow as the wind was ripping. Edited December 23, 2021 by AirheadD8 Quote

That's what happens when someone takes a vacation from skiing and reporting! Nah, there wasn't any real ice on the slopes. Quote
