theprogram4 Posted January 31, 2022 Report Posted January 31, 2022 United tried to tell me snowboards are an extra charge compared to skis and charged me more. I immediately threw a temper tantrum on their Facebook page while in the security line and before the flight was boarding, they had reached out to correct the issue. It’s sad how being an immature asshole can get results, but unfortunately, years of retail and sales experience have shown me this to be the case 3 1 Quote

Popular Post AtomicSkier Posted January 31, 2022 Popular Post Report Posted January 31, 2022 Today was a wild one. Wind was pretty rowdy at the base, and we heard 50+ mph at the top of the tram. We got to the top of the gondy and it was insane. Shit blowing everywhere. Our first run down Amphi was pretty nice. Vis was meh at best, but snow was soft. Lifty told us Tram and Sub were already on wind hold. Top of thunder it was blowing sideways at probably 35+ mph. We managed to get 3 runs off north facing stuff on Thunder before they shut it down a few chairs behind us. North facing aspects were holding a creamy 2", but everything else was wind scoured. With Tram, Sub, and Thunder down, over to Casper we went, which had a 5 minute line when we showed up, but due to winds, they were running it at 1/2 speed so the line grew quickly. Few runs over there before heading over to Teton, which had no lines. Even the Sweetwater gondy was down for winds. A random shot of GSS without his hands up for once. 14 Quote
Popular Post GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted January 31, 2022 Author Popular Post Report Posted January 31, 2022 Yesterday was the fifth bluebird ski day in a row..it was a bit like groundhogs day..freezing cold down low, mild on the upper mountain. A lot of groomers off the sublette and thunder lifts and even a groomed Slalom run. Moderate weekend crowds but no real liftlines. Last night we had some trouble finding supper. First the brewery had a 20-25 minute wait for a table and I didn’t want to wait that long so went to Pizzeria Caldera which was closed then restaurant by the cowboy bar was closed and snake river grill closed. We ended up getting a table at Gather which was very good and we chatted with the couple from Mississippi who was at the next table who just wrapped up a conference and serious wining and dining at the Four seasons. This morning we had a little more moxie with snow falling. My walk to the bagel place was downright balmy as it was almost 20 degrees vs -10 and below previous days. We left for the hill at 7:55am and parked right in front in the village lot and were second and third people in the singles line of the gondola. Skied Ampitheater to thunder which had like an inch of new pow wow..Toast would have called it 2”..to the Thunder lift and wow was it windy at the top of Thunder. Down grand which was treacherous..hard to ski and barely any fresh at all..mostly frozen cord. Sublette and the Tram were closed. The cat track back to thunder had bad visibility. Up thunder again and took second entrance into Amphitheater via Jerry’s way which had some of the deepest new snow..maybe 2-3” perd so Toast and Jack Frost would have called it 4-5”..pleasant conditions and back to the Thunder lift for a third ride up and a few chairs behind us they stopped loading the Thunder lift. The same run again and then across to the Casper lift which had a moderate liftline and this was the first day Casper was running this trip. Got some stash park freshies and up casper again for a second round of stash park freshies then up Teton lift which had pretty bad snow up there just very skied off with all the traffic. I do think this new snow will groom out well and the winds should deposit the new snow to places like 10 sleep bowl and below the expert chutes. While early in the trip lacked new snow, it’s easy to take for granted perfect visibility..today’s visibility meant more turns in areas I usually let the skis run so was a good workout. Nice lunch at the four seasons and Atomic Jeff enjoyed a couple of $27 Old Fashioned cocktails. I wasn’t up for drinking so had Diet stoke, chili and a philly wagyu sang. Today was alright, wasn’t the best, wasn’t the worst but we lucked out getting a bunch of laps in before lifts started going down. 10 1 1 Quote
enjoralas Posted January 31, 2022 Report Posted January 31, 2022 That’s a turbull looking lunch. They forgot the last inch of each end of your sang and is that chili or soup? 1 1 1 Quote

GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted January 31, 2022 Author Report Posted January 31, 2022 (edited) The picture was bad...it was worth the $29 and even came with fries. 4 out of 5 stars since it didn’t cum with a pickle Edited January 31, 2022 by GrilledSteezeSandwich 1 1 2 Quote
Popular Post AtomicSkier Posted February 1, 2022 Popular Post Report Posted February 1, 2022 We thought yesterday was going to be a decent day, but ended up sucking with the wind and visibility. Didn’t have high hopes for today but it was awesome. Northern aspects had a lot more wind deposited snow than the 3” reported. I even managed face shots below the experts chutes. 5 days of sun, one day of storm skiing, and a surprise “pow” day was a great way to end it. Now at the mangy getting numb. 10 2 Quote
Johnny Law Posted February 1, 2022 Report Posted February 1, 2022 FKNA way to slut it up !!!! Sometimes wind is your best friend, it can move way way way more snow than it can ever snow in a day. Killer fucking trip ! Super jelly but way to get the whole smorgasbord of possible good conditions. 1 1 Quote
Popular Post GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted February 1, 2022 Author Popular Post Report Posted February 1, 2022 At least 6 untracked pow runs today..maybe 8 if you count shallow pow..a few groomers..zipping through singles lines, meeting a single mom, pow wow..Atomic Jeff still having white shit in his beard in the parking lot..face shots...first civilian gondola again..being watched on the webcam..$22 bacon steezeburger @ the mangy moose came with free pickle..frozen face top of sublette..and took some pictures today. 7 days at Jackson hole including first three days and four nights here with NMSki...no falls, only yelled at by ski patrol once but he was stern. Saw a guy in line at thunder get his pass scanned by the yellow jackets but I flew by them a half dozen times today no cap was low key speeding in a Whoa zone..No falls on ice in town either...still a few walks around town left to prob jinxed myself..and so many good songs waiting for the gondola..my favorite was probably Wilson Phillips,”Hold On”..that song hits hard..has me feeling some type of way. 10 Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted February 1, 2022 Author Report Posted February 1, 2022 I heard the take a load off Annie song multiple times, the acoustic version of Eleanor Rigby twice and shakedown Street at least a half dozen times. I thought they started playing 90s music here as I heard Breakfast at Tiffany’s but it was coming out of somebodies portable speaker in the lift line. I’d rather have breakfast in the Blue mountain parking lot than at Tiffany’s...word Lyfe!! 5 Quote

Probably Juicy because that’s AtomicSkier ’s favorite ass bedazzled pants. 3 1 Quote

CaptDave Posted February 2, 2022 Report Posted February 2, 2022 I guess I should login a but more often to see if anyone else might be here. I arrived last night and we went searching for good snow. Not much pictures today. Central Chute wasn’t good but I don’t think it was bad. the snow on this section (trail name evades me) under tram I thought was pretty good thanks to wind buffing. Interesting to see what the rest of the week has to offer. 8 Quote
AtomicSkier Posted February 2, 2022 Report Posted February 2, 2022 @CaptDave Riverton Bowl ... key today was to stick to north facing stuff. Wind was 50mph yesterday and deposited anything fresh onto north facing slopes. Softest stuff will be things like Hoops Gap, Expert Chutes, Bivouac, Ten Sleep, etc. Even heard Paint Brush was skiing nice today...but we were in the pow mood so shallower angle was key 😃 2 Quote

GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted February 3, 2022 Author Report Posted February 3, 2022 I’ll do a good, bad and ugly at some point. The flight back to Newark earlier left about an hour late and arrived in Newark about a half hour late. I got my bags fast and parking shuttle to the parking spot fast but the drive was hell. First very thick fog made things spicy and then five lanes merged into one on 78 right after 287 which delayed things another 20-30 minutes. Feels good to have another successful trip to Jackson hole. I came back with zero dollars cash..I was down to $9 this morning and left $6 for housekeeping and other $3 for the parking shuttle. I actually only used a credit card for supper last night at Trio and my parking..the rest was cash from a cash order I received two weeks ago. I also didn’t gain any weight in JH which is nice although I’m the second or third fattest person in Teton county which isn’t good. 4 Quote
