Popular Post Barb Posted January 15, 2023 Popular Post Report Posted January 15, 2023 The tour we had decided on did not look good from an avalanche perspective on the topo map. Lots of slides lately so we wanted to keep it mellow. Found a spot near the Reudi Reservoir 30 miles outside Basalt. Did not see another person today so that was nice. Did 2 miles up and 1300’ then turned around. 9 1 1 Quote

Barb Posted January 15, 2023 Report Posted January 15, 2023 It was warm. If I brought a tank top I would have been rocking it. Quote

Barb Posted January 15, 2023 Report Posted January 15, 2023 current view from the lodge at Aspen Mountain. Think I’m gonna call it a day unless the sun comes back out. Can’t see a thing. Got about 8 good runs in. No action shots unfortunately 8 Quote

No action shots unfortunately At least if you can't see anything it looks like nobody is home.......I heard Highlands the other day had a phantom 10" that skied deep on the lower half of the hill and I would just be happy if it stayed cold a bit. Barb Posted January 15, 2023 Report Posted January 15, 2023 Very spoiled here. There was one 5 min wait in Ajax lift. The rest we skied right on. 3 Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted January 17, 2023 Author Report Posted January 17, 2023 Sheesh an intermediate skier skis the spine at ABasin..that’s even harder than Razors edge. I got a foot deep of freshies to skiers right of that on the main slope Pali face. Quote

It's better video when the camera isn't aimed straight down at the perder. 1 Quote

Here is a sick video from Lost Trail Montana which is in the Bitterroots of western Montana where the men are men and the sheep are scared. Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted January 19, 2023 Author Report Posted January 19, 2023 This guy skis the spine at ABasin the way we ski down main street. Insane ripping..I love that chalky wind buff snow. 1 1 Quote

Dancing Bob who I think you’ve seen at Musikfest dancing in circles like Steve Urkel pretty much only posts in rhyme form. He does plays on words, he says,”Id be a better wrapper at Boscovs wrapping Xmas presents than rapping at karaoke” and when my friend Katie turned 38, he said she was a 38 special. Here’s an old video of Dancing bob dancing..he always has props like umbrella hats, one glove like Michael Jackson 1 Quote

Barb Posted January 26, 2023 Report Posted January 26, 2023 Tackled Tiehack Today! Say that 5x’s fast. There are 3 uphill routes at Buttermilk and Tiehack is the hardest. I had planned to bust it out by the end of the season but my friend is up here with me and it’s her birthday today. So I asked her if she wanted to suffer and she said yes. The x games begin this weekend so getting her pass was a challenge w parking in the main lot. Then we drove over to the Tiehack lot snd it was full, luckily someone was just leaving and we snagged that spot. The lot is right below the lift, so convenient. forecast was for clouds but we did have a bit of sun. Temps about 16 degrees. When looking it up the stats show 1.75 miles up with 1700’ of elevation gain. My watch tracked 1.5 miles and 1847’. Let’s just say it was steep. The skimo crowd was passing us like we were standing still. It was funny after a while. I could barely speak I was so out of breath and they would come in hot on our heels and say hello with no difficulty. Almost to the top. The ski down was fun, we were pooped. Snow quality was really nice too. 3 3 1 Quote
