GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted January 25, 2023 Report Posted January 25, 2023 I think Doug’s drop is named after Doug Lewis who was an Olympian and born in middlebury Vt..definitely not me as I’ve never skied Burke 2 1 1 Quote
PSUFrankenstein Posted January 25, 2023 Author Report Posted January 25, 2023 Finished the day at Burke with a run down Cave man. Got to Saddleback around 4 30, at a brewery in Rangeley now for dinner. Saw some sort of large cat on my way here...bobcat or lynx I guess. Pretty cool but it ran away before I could get a picture 8 Quote
Johnny Law Posted January 25, 2023 Report Posted January 25, 2023 Dude you even got it while it's good ! Burke is a really really good time, one my all time favorites in the little bit out there category. Saddleback should be the tits too ! 1 Quote

Everything is open and with another 10 or 12" of fresh snow it should be great 3 Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted January 26, 2023 Report Posted January 26, 2023 I saw Burke had three for one lift tickets today and lift tickets are $45 each. 1 Quote
PSUFrankenstein Posted January 26, 2023 Author Report Posted January 26, 2023 Yeah lift tickets are cheap there. I tried getting the indy pass discount but since there was already a midweek special it wasn't valid 1 Quote
PSUFrankenstein Posted January 26, 2023 Author Report Posted January 26, 2023 Not sure how conditions at Saddleback will be today. Super windy so some stuff may be slick, but trees should be great. Tomorrow should be good, supposed to be another few inches through tonight and tomorrow will be sunny and less windy Condo is pretty nice. Two extra beds upstairs if anyone wants to make the trip (doubt it but just putting it out there) 5 2 1 Quote

PSUFrankenstein Posted January 26, 2023 Author Report Posted January 26, 2023 The steps might be more challenging than the slopes today 6 2 Quote
toast21602 Posted January 26, 2023 Report Posted January 26, 2023 Love the place. Might want to drink upstairs if there is a bathroom there. If not, those chairs look comfy 😂 Quote

PSUFrankenstein Posted January 26, 2023 Author Report Posted January 26, 2023 Pleasantly surprised with my first run. Groomer was smooth slightly frozen cord...ungroomed intermediate was kinda dense powder but fun 4 Quote
PSUFrankenstein Posted January 26, 2023 Author Report Posted January 26, 2023 Glades and trails off the Kennebago lift are pretty much all closed. Hopefully they'll open later. Trail report says everything is open so maybe just delayed opening 4 Quote
PSUFrankenstein Posted January 26, 2023 Author Report Posted January 26, 2023 Upper and lower Peachys Peril (I think). Getting choppy after 3 runs on it but still a lot of fun 7 Quote
PSUFrankenstein Posted January 26, 2023 Author Report Posted January 26, 2023 Intimidator glade. Much better snow, well spaced trees. Still not much open off kennebago lift, really hoping to hit Casablanca glade. You can also hike above treeline so may do that tomorrow 4 Quote
rgrwilco Posted January 26, 2023 Report Posted January 26, 2023 Ive always been intrigued by saddlebacks above treeline stuff. Not much photo/video of it out there. Saddleback looks incredible. Maybe next year I will finally get there. The year I had a trio actually planned, they closed. 2 Quote

Hopefully I'll at least get to check it out tomorrow That traverse and high line traverse are both closed. Cut through the glades and hit the lift line and one other trail. Gonna go get lunch and go back out. 6 Quote

I'm pretty surprised at how nice the groomers were this morning. If visibility wasn't awful, it would have been even better 1 Quote
