Popular Post GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted March 16, 2023 Popular Post Report Posted March 16, 2023 Hey All, I’m back from another fun session at Blue mountain. I arrived at the lower lot at 830am and it was 33 degrees under partly sunny sky’s. In the house were Atomic Jeff, Johnny Law, Bethlehem ford crew, Root and a couple hundred boomers. First run on razors was a carpet on the top half and still ok lower down..very nice. Next run on coming soon was really bad..solid and uneven and lower paradise wasn’t that good. Challenge looked bad but was pretty smooth and forgiving, lapped that’s again then another Main Street. Lazy mile was very good as well and then ended the session with a couple more runs on challenge. The snowmaking cannons were blowing in a few spots and Challenge and Coming soon reminded me of a Tom Cruise movie cause only the Top Gun was on. All in all a decent AM session. I’m hearing rumors that they are trying to stay open until the first weekend of April. I guess Mother Nature and crowds will determine that. I also finally hit day 50 today in a semi slacker season for me and sold a tombstone on the drive back into work. JADIP 9 1 Quote
saltyant Posted March 16, 2023 Report Posted March 16, 2023 I think @toastman jinxed Coming Soon by recently saying it has had the best conditions ever. 1 2 Quote
Johnny Law Posted March 16, 2023 Report Posted March 16, 2023 Today was super good, particularly for later in the season. Always dope to show up and see the guns going pretty hard and there is no evidence they are closing soon. Challenge was rotd which is rare but it was full steam ahead kind of snow and it's a real treat when you get truly let them fly. From early on in my skiing days to now the roll over at the top is a great way to start a trail. I didn't think coming soon was that bad but I think it was very dependent on what lane you were in as it was very firm underneath. Crazy it's Pina colada weather out now 5 Quote

GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted March 16, 2023 Author Report Posted March 16, 2023 Amazing that it was damp and chilly this AM with the snowmaking cannons blasting and now it’s 62 degrees out and I have my AC on in my car. Don’t worry it will be cold for the party day Quote
zzslope Posted March 16, 2023 Report Posted March 16, 2023 I thought lazy, switchback, and challenge were very good this morning. GSS was right about challenge looking bad but being good, weird. Razors was ok as was widow to midway. There were some very sticky spots from a couple of the fan guns. One was on main across from midway. We watched from the lift as people almost faceplanted when they hit it. 2 Quote

Then spot I found to be pleasant new manmade snow..I hit the homestretch snowmaking pile at a weird angle one time and it slowed me down a lot..and the one blowing water by the new six pack was fun..they were still blowing snow when it was like 38-39 degrees at the base and the humidity was sort of high. RidgeRacer Posted March 16, 2023 Report Posted March 16, 2023 These are the best times at Blue. So good right now 7 2 Quote
RidgeRacer Posted March 16, 2023 Report Posted March 16, 2023 Everything is glorious tonight except the thin and brown areas of which there are plenty. Switch and nightmare dream may be @toast21602 after tomorrow. The base shrunk a good bit too. Soon, razors and challenge are in really good shape though. 1 1 Quote

DiMe Posted March 17, 2023 Report Posted March 17, 2023 Snow was super sticky this afternoon so I spent some time working on front boards and front board 90 outs hiking yetti. Got some random dad to film one drop for me to see what I needed to fix. Around 6ish the sun was on its way down and the snow got fast again. Coverage is suprisingly good in most spots. Really hope we get midweek next week. All in all JADIP 😇 InShot_20230316_204801412.mp4 2 Quote

It's fast access to the quad for a warm up run over to the 6 pack. Employees park there, last 2 rows in front of tubing building. Edited March 17, 2023 by DiMe Quote

Johnny Law Posted March 17, 2023 Report Posted March 17, 2023 Rode this morning with Mixl and root. At first I thought the weather man was smoking crack as it was raining hard most of my drive up but 15 mins or so before 9 it cleared up and got super super nice out. They took a bit of a beating in coverage, on switch the groomer got into it a bit and now has a large racing stripe for 200ft. NM/DW is just plain thin most everywhere. The snow was absolutely fantastic, perfect hero snow and generally very smooth. Set them up and let them go all day with low crowds. Challenge was perfect for the first hour and razors wasn't far behind. Really really excellent spring skiing hopefully they are open during the week next week. 6 Quote
Mixilplix Posted March 17, 2023 Report Posted March 17, 2023 Super fun morning riding with Jlaw and then a couple runs with Root...Some sprinkles on the drive up but cleared out for some great weather....Really good conditions most everywhere ...Raceway had some chocolate chips on it...Midway/Chute/Lower Main were fine.... 1 Quote
