MiaGeorge Posted August 2 Report Posted August 2 I've always been a casual skier and have usually stopped skiing each year after March. Planning to do some spring skiing this year but not sure what to expect. It looks like Whistler will be open longer this year due to the new Jersey Cream chair they will be building on Blackcomb. Should I expect the entire Whistler Alpine to be open during the spring season (aside from periodic closures for specific reasons)? Is there a high avalanche risk with the warmer temperatures? I assume it will be raining a good chunk of the time - is the key to just choose the days with no precipitation? Any spring skiing tips are much appreciated. Thanks in advance. Quote

RidgeRacer Posted August 3 Report Posted August 3 (edited) Welcome to PASR @MiaGeorge. I honestly can't speak for whistler but most of the west should be fine early April. @GrilledSteezeSandwich used to do annual trips to the front range in CO in late April and always got snow. Utah should be good too. Edited August 3 by RidgeRacer Quote

saltyant Posted August 4 Report Posted August 4 (edited) @GrilledSteezeSandwich We should make a road trip in a rented Chevy Sonic to the Himalayas this spring to give some Spring Skiing Tips to Mia George. I can bring the avalanche gear like a snorkel from the dollar store, and Matt Edge can bring the karaoke machine for when we climb Mount Everest. We can also invite other rad PASRs like VTMark and Atomic Skier, and find a five person bunk bed chalet at the base of the snow covered peaks. Edited August 4 by saltyant Quote
