C1erArt Posted December 4 Author Report Posted December 4 First day. Cameras when the slope opened. One park and a couple of greens on the west side open. Maybe 50 people there in the morning. A couple of rails at the top of one park, otherwise the slope was open. Pretty wide without features on it. Good conditions, nice and firm, didn’t deteriorate at all as the morning went on. A couple people skiing the trees and the edge of Exhibition. DJ tent near the lodge, new music speakers in the lodge. Mellow vibe. New CARV sensors worked well. Top Ski IQ today was 130, top speed 36. IMG_0278.mov 4 Quote

What other trails are showing significant snowmaking process and look like they could get open for Sat or Sun? May well head there one of those days. Edited December 4 by Ski2Live Live2Ski Quote

On the down side, there wasn’t any snow blowing east of One Park. 😒 Edited December 4 by C1erArt Quote

I’m hoping with this cold weather, everyone is stepping their game up and making a lot of snow. Last year seemed like such a battle with the weather. Quote

It fits Vails business model to kind of pace themselves with snowmaking, the passes they are concerned about selling have already been purchased. 1 2 Quote

I think they view their resorts systemically rather than individually. Get JF open a bit to calm the gripes of the Roundtoppers who can roadtrip up there. Those closer to Poconos that might gripe about nothing with a headway being open at JF can go to Hunter for Hellgate. Those wanting more terrain than Hunter has open can head to VT. And honestly that approach makes sense for a multi mountain system. Would not be shocked to see Alterra focus on opening one or other of their PA places first and direct those wanting more challenge up to Windham or VT - as suggested by planned Paradise/Burma opening at Blue Edited December 5 by Ski2Live Live2Ski Quote

It's not as cold today with the front still coming through. I see a temp of 27F with 75% humidity which isn't a great wet bulb temp. Vail absolutely does NOT run mountains as local mountains. They run the whole thing as a system to certain mountains' detriment, JF included. Maybe that will slowly change as the JF managers get more familiar with the mountain and the locals, but I am not holding my breath. Although I will admit they have done slightly better year by year since 2020/2021. Edited December 5 by EdBacon 2 Quote

Ski2Live Live2Ski Posted December 9 Report Posted December 9 Skied 13 runs from 1-4 with nice conditions and zero lines. They now have Jane’s Lane and Easy Rider open along with One Park and snow blown into the trees alongside the latter two. 1 1 Quote

JFskiDan Posted December 9 Report Posted December 9 I hope there weren't any lines. The trail count and lift count are almost the same. Quote
EdBacon Posted December 10 Report Posted December 10 Was there on Saturday and no crowds. Snow quality was pretty good. Too bad they'll have to reset again with the rain. 1 Quote
C1erArt Posted Sunday at 09:27 PM Author Report Posted Sunday at 09:27 PM Sunday, Dec. 15 Out for a couple of hours, started about 10:30. Lot across from the lodge was 3/4 full. Lodge itself was pretty quiet. Lapped One Park and Demattes. Blowing snow on the crossover from e mtn to top of Challenge. Snow conditions were pretty pristine, firm with a nice carvable cover. Still only 2 rails on One Park. 2 Quote
