Hey all, looks like another grate weekend is coming up. Does anyone plan to be at Camelback this weekend for First Tra x?? Rumor has it Coolmoor carpet is open and maybe Marjorie's Delight will be groomed.

I think Im going to give Camelback another go this Saturday. Blue Mountain the True Mountain guest services gave me a new season pass that says "Peak Two Peak" so I guess it'll work now. I know Enyoralas will be sad to hear I'll not longer be complaining about it on the face books if it happens to work this weekend. If it doesn't work again I'll probably up the ante and maybe even expand my complaining to the Northeastern Ski Forums face books group

@EdBacon are you skiing Camelback this weekend?? I wonder if they got Cliffhanger open. I think that slope should be upgraded to a triple black diamond. I can't wait to ride Stevenson when my pass works this weekend and then I'll write a report for @Enjoralescousin to tell his cousin if my pass has issues so I can continue to bitch about it on teh face books. Thatll be so rad

Hey, @saltyant, heard a ridiculous thing on the lifts yesterday about CB still being like 33% open and lots of season pass holders holding an eternal gripe against it and swearing to never ever... Something related to lack of water?? Checked the maps, and it ain't true at all. Maybe not 100% open, but definitely way more than 33%.

How was your experience this year?

Camelback has been a complete joke this season. Yes, now they have the majority of their trails open, but it took long enough. There are numerous issues at Camelwhack this season, so what you heard on the lift is 100% real news. The Stevenson Lift just opened for the first time two weeks ago. That's right, January 17. Meanwhile True Blue has been nearly 100% open since probably Mid December. 

Here are the various reasons I heard for this debauchery:

• Lack of water for snowmaking due to drought, and some government agency limiting their water access (they use a lot for the water park)
• Mass resignation of snowmakers; I heard there were only 3 snowmakers for the whole mountain a while ago, and they had to borrow some from Blue
• The Stevenson Lift failed inspection 4 times, rumour has it. When it apparently passed on 1/17, they finally opened it. It continues to malfunction sporadically a lot per rumors on the Face Books

Needly to say, I will NOT be renewing my Peak to Peak pass next season, 2025/2026. I will stick to True Blue. That's my Boy Blue, I'm stuck on Blue, let's all go to Blue woooooohoooooo

Yeah, Blue definitely rocks this year, esp. the last few weeks with the cold weather and with 3 expresses running in the middle of the week. WJW. I now have these occasional attacks of nostalgia remembering how there would be a mile long line in front of the only express, with the second one scheduled to open only in an hour 'cause there's no staff. Or how I'd go down from Summit lodge at 9am only to find that they're not loading any lifts yet. Those good old times...

LMAO. Camelback's Facebook page says Cliffhanger is open, but people are saying it's FAKE NEWS and it's not actually open. What a joke!

I'll try to go tomorrow. Wanted to go today to ski Cliffhanger which should really be a triple diamond but not feeling so well.

@eaf You missed all the drama two weeks ago. 

I got to Camelback at 7:15 and my "Peak to Peak" pass wouldn't work. I stormed back and forth between the scanners and customer service three times before I got fed up and left. Went to Jack Frost. Apparently Blue had an issue and Camelback couldn't fix it. All they could do was offer me a day pass without first tracks or VIP line access. What a joke!

Rumor has it the winch cat broke this morning, so they couldn't groom Cliffhanger and I guess they don't have the ability to edit their website to take it off the open trails list. What a joke!

None of it makes sense though. Snowmaking quitting, water shortage, pass issues. Aren't these mountains under the same management??

And first tracks are overrated. It's all frozen anyway.

Correct, as far as I know.

There are 2 benefits to First Tr.ax:

1. Skiing corduroy is the best

2. Skiing that extra hour before the long lines and crowded slopes is well worth it

At least in the past you could jump on Old Bailey slow lift when the line got unbearable. Way better than sitting butt to nut on the main lifts. But Old Bailey has not opened this season, yet I still paid $250 extra to add Camelback to my pass. I think everyone who bought a pass for Camelback should at least get a complimentary coupon for a free hot toddy for their abysmal management of the ski resorts this season.
