Day 3 of 7

Hey All,

I’m back from another fun day at Jackson Hole mountain resort.  In the house were me, Atomic Jeff and JfDan.  We saw a couple moose right by the ticket office and were in line for the gondola around 830am.  The temperature was about zero under mostly cloudy sky’s.  First run on amphitheater had flat light and kind of stiff snow.  Up Thunder and Grand was similar.  Up Sublette and Bivoac still had some chalk.  Next run was an empty rendezvous trail and pretty decent grooming.

Over to Thunder and down the top of amphitheater over to Casper lift.  Up Casper and down wide open to Teton lift then down wide open again back to the Casper chair.  I skied the stash park area to right under the lift then up Teton again to Crags run which was pretty decent up Teton again to the base of apres vous.  Up apres vous to Saratoga bowl which had the best snow on the mountain, it’s below and north facing where we skied so snow was chalky to styrofoam.  Did a repeat of Saratoga bowl.

Me and Jeff quit then and went to the mangy moose and JfDan got a few more runs in and met us at the mangy.  Now back in town waiting for my weed pills to creep in.  Nazareth Jay arrived about 2 hours ago and Dirtwolf is expected to arrive around 9pm.  Everybody keep your fingers crossed that his plane gets in ok as it’s supposed to start snowing and blowing in a few hours.

From the JH Avalanche forecast.

The approaching multi-day atmospheric river will bring widespread snow with periods of heavy snowfall of over 1 inch an hour. By Saturday evening (5pm) forecasted snow totals are showing over 12 inches of snow across all forecast zones. Areas favored by the storm in the Tetons and Snake River Range could receive closer to 18 inches of snow. Strong wind is forecasted to peak in intensity Saturday. Another strong pulse is followed on Sunday with continued snowfall into early next week. Powder season is back as we roll into February.

Jackson Hole

Day 4 of 7

2/1/2025

Hey All,

I’m back from another fun day at Jackson hole mountain resort.  The day dawned mild and snowy with a temperature of around 30 degrees in town with a couple inches of new snow and 9” new reported on the mountain.  In the house were Atomic Jeff, JFDan, Nazareth Jay and Dirtwolf.  We arrived at the mountain around 8am and were in line for the gondola around 810am to the sounds of avalanche bombs above.  Miraculously the mountain opened on time and a few minutes later we were whisked up the mountain in the Bridger gondola.

Down Amphitheater to Thunder was some thick new snow and was pretty tracked already by all the wallets and people ahead.  Up Thunder and center of grand had a lot of untracked still kind of sierra cement.  Up Sublette and into the cirque for the first time this trip..lots of new snow and untracked down into Amphitheater which was beat.  By now Thunder had an overflowing corral but we waited once for about ten minutes to ride Thunder back up, then traverses below the expert chutes for some untracked and here it seemed lighter.

Back down and we took the Marmot chair since it had no line.  We ended up doing four laps off the Marmot chair skiing a couple short sections of slightly tracked glades..here the snow was more medium density.  After the fourth woods lap we skied down to Casper chair and I was beat so skied to the base via blacktail and Sundance and like 20 minutes later the boys were done.

We ended up at the Mangy moose again it was super packed in there but we got a table.  Fun skiing a lot of untracked today and I think tomorrow will be even better and they needed the higher density snow to cover up the hardpack.

Is there enough tree skiing options? Visibility must be a challenge , enjoy!

Visibility is no problem and yesterday woods were definitely in play even before the snowstorm.  Airhead you should get out here, you’d have a blast and really maximize the experience.

Way more than enough.  Just check yourself before you wreck yourself. If it’s marked double diamonds in JH there is probable some sort of cliff/rock formation as in this short line under Thunder lift.
