GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted March 16 Report Posted March 16 Hey All, I’m back from another morning session at Blue mountain the true mountain. I arrived at the lower lot before 720am and it was foggy with a temperature of around 50 degrees. In the house were Atomic Jeff, JFDan, Indiggio, Justo, Blake, Airhead, Rose, Mixilplix, BenM, Dirtwolf, Mute, Bethlehem Ford crew, TP4 and a handful of others. Started off on the super summit safari six pack. Lazy Mile first which was good soft groomed snow but couldn’t see shit, paradise was similar but more hardpack areas. I found switchback to be the best and mostly skied that. Coming soon was some soft and boilerplate, I did a Burma run as well and was nice having grip in the corners. Skied until 940, and hung out in the lot till about 11:10 just had one beer and some chips. Now at work to count money. I’ll be back Friday morning. JADIP 6 Quote

RidgeRacer Posted March 16 Report Posted March 16 Better yesterday both visibility wise and conditions wise. still a fun day. Blue mountain if you’re reading this, the litter conditions under each chair from top to bottom is out of control. The trash base now rivals the snow base at this point. it’s embarrassing and shows a lack of pride or caring; and at this point the only thing I can deduce is that you simply don’t care about your hill looking like a landfill. Perhaps consider taking this upcoming week / spring temperatures to conduct a massive cleanup operation. Recycle the beer cans and use the money you make to invest in do not litter signs. #PickUpPA. 5 1 Quote

I agree and the guy who empty’s cans from the lot at Blue said aluminum is almost up to fifty cents a pound. 2 1 Quote

Yea I don’t know WTF is going to on, even happening at the face, I noticed some cans on the summit lift. From today's WF conditions report: peaking of spring… as the snow melts, some less-than-picturesque sights start to appear—trash. I’ve been noticing wrappers, empty cans, bottles, and litter from the parking lots to the summit. Let’s keep Whiteface looking as epic as the riding—do a pocket check before hitting the slopes, and use the trash and recycling bins placed throughout the mountain. Winter is only as sustainable as we make it. Since I’m whining wassup with peeps just leaving their skis on the snow?!? The few night sesh’s I did at blue you couldn’t get off the snow without walking across people’s shit?! I’ve seen it everywhere else we’ve been this season too… that why racks are for (old man yells at sky) 2 1 Quote
indiggio Posted March 17 Report Posted March 17 What's absolutely hilarious is that it took Blue until this past weekend to put garbage cans in the lift lines! Really?? Putting trash cans in the lift lines isn't going to help because everyone's drinking ON THE LIFT RIDE UP! Try putting the can's at the top of the lift!! Perhaps a little guilt and trash cans there would help a little, doubtful. Start putting up signs: If you're caught littering, your ticket will be pulled! 5 1 Quote
JFskiDan Posted March 17 Report Posted March 17 Its actually ashame that Blue takes the brunt of the complaining of the trash, and has to deal with it. Its not like they did it, but the way they handle it is pretty poor. They need a trashcan at the top of each lift. It blows me away that people can take a full 12 pack with them, but as soon as one is empty they cant carry it anymore. Quote

Mountain Creek has the signs threatening to lose your pass if you litter pretty much everywhere, and while there was some trash when I was there a week ago. it was nothing compared to blue. Put up signs and enforce it. 3 Quote

Put up signs and enforce it. Chatting about it on the lifts, the majority of the crap being thrown is *probably* from the after dark visitors, as we've not actually seen anyone randomly throwing garbage off the lifts except for the few times people trying to hit the under lift bins. Unfortunately, enforcing would be limited to SP actually seeing someone toss something while riding up behind them. Maybe put fake security cameras on the lift towers with blinking LEDs? 😉 Blue definitely takes the "garbage dump" award of the surrounding mountains. None of the others even come close. Quote
Johnny Law Posted March 18 Report Posted March 18 Atomic, the other blue dude and I were talking on the lift as even CB is no where near as trashy......I still say let the lower lot guy clean it up but my God blue looks like shit 3 1 Quote

The amount of twisted teas and those little fireball shots are insane. 3 Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted March 18 Author Report Posted March 18 A couple years ago they sent employees out to clean up the trash, they should do that weekly or every few days. 3 1 Quote

At the very least send folks to clean around the stupid funnels. More people miss the funnels than they actually get it in. At best it's 50/50 and the piles of trash surrounding the trash funnels is absurd. I swear to God Oscar the Grouch is gonna pop out of that mess all angry at us one day when we're skiing. Quote

I heard that one day they had a single person out using one of those extenda-grabber thingies, picking up a can at a time and putting it in the bin. How'd ya like to do that for 8 hours?!? Quote

Yeah it’s pretty disgusting, for a radius of 30’ around the bin there’s barely any ground visible . Since Blue doesn’t care I’m thinking about bringing my garbage from home, I can save a quarter’s worth of my annual garbage bill🤪 Kidding aside who’s ever in charge is probably a snowflake and is concerned with potential conflicts with entitled “guests “ My friend has a saying “Do something, even if it’s wrong but inaction is not an option “ 2 1 Quote

Trust me I would've much rather been on a mountain picking up cans I pity the poor kids going into the valley lodge's men's room during the height of a busy Saturday afternoon to clean up. On the other hand, I admire their wherewithal to do so for a poultry, near minimum wage paycheck and, of course, a season pass. 2 1 Quote
saltyant Posted March 19 Report Posted March 19 (edited) I think this Sunday at the party we should all protest the trashy conditions at Blue Mountain the True mountain and dye our hairs pink and yell at the sky and maybe also hold paper signs demanding action. Edited March 19 by saltyant 1 1 Quote
mgguy Posted March 19 Report Posted March 19 Didn't see any trash at Mt Snow 2 weeks ago.... Bear is pretty clean, they send a crew out regularly to clean. Disgusting that people litter in nature..... 5 1 Quote
