Popular Post mbike-ski Posted March 21 Popular Post Report Posted March 21 After learning about the Killington-Pico Interconnect Trail while skiing Pico a few years back I added it to my Ski Bucket List. On Tuesday Mrs. SnoBunSki was doing a PSIA cert at Killington and it being a gorgeous bluebird day, decided to give it a go. I set off from Killington Rams Head to skin up and over to Pico’s Summit Glade, one of my all time favorite trails.. After an easy skin up to the trailhead I cut over to the Interconnect and after some mellow climbing I soon had Killington in the rear view mirror Coverage was good although I was hoping for a snowmobile trail through the woods more than a groomer wide super highway. As I approached the switchbacks just before Pico the snow started thinning and eventually gave way to grass and dirt for a few hundred yards with a great view back to K. Over the saddle the snow picked up again to connect to the Summit Glade trail with a nice view for a bevy, lunch and skin strip. I was looking forward to a challenging spring tele run down Summit Glade but it was not to be had. Temps had risen to the upper 40’s/low 50’s but the bumps had yet to soften so I cut over to the frozen crud on 49er. It softened up about half way down allowing for some fun spring tele turns down to the base. I saw The Bus pulling out just as I got to the base so I hoofed it up to Long Trail Inn to burn some time before the next one, stats below. 8 3 2 Quote
Barb Posted March 21 Report Posted March 21 So many awesome things about this. Love skinning in a t shirt. 6 miles is a far skin, must have been very gradual to have that elevation gain. I need to find an uphill like that! Well done and very cool. Quote
AtomicSkier Posted March 21 Report Posted March 21 damn that's some good distance. I assume a lot of flatter sections? how's that on your tele setup? i dread flat sections with my setup. Quote
