GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted March 22 Report Posted March 22 Hey All, I’m back from another session at Blue mountain the true mountain. I arrived at the lower lot before 720am and the temperature was around 30 degrees under partly sunny sky’s. In the house was everybody except Zonked, Nastar Glenn, Johnny Law and Matt Edge. I had low expectations with yesterday’s warmth and the overnight freeze but conditions were alright. Lazy mile and Paradise were decent initially as was Dreamweaver…nice groomed snow a little sugar and a few spots of boilerplate. Challenge was mini cookies but apparently it softened up pretty fast..Widowmaker to chute was pretty solid. I enjoyed Burma as it was smooth and no people on it. I also skied the woods next to Barney’s bumps and surprisingly good as long as you stayed in a three foot wide path. Temperatures rose into the 40s but it also became more overcast. I ended up skiing 11 runs then a fun parking lot, I even went into the next row which is progressive. Now time to rest up for tomorrows party. JADIP 7 Quote
RidgeRacer Posted March 22 Report Posted March 22 Way better than expected today. What's open has way better coverage than I anticipated. Props to blue...not only for the snow pack but for the litter clean up efforts. It's not fully cleaned but it's clear they made the effort. 65 to 70% is gone and it looks way better. But the good news doesn't end there. There are now no littering signs and trash cans at the entrance to each lift. All positive steps and keep up the good work there Blue! Back to the skiing...runs of the day for me were para weaver and the three runs through sleepy hollow to lower main. Sleepy hollow has a sliver in and a sliver out but if you go too low you had to ski through dirt or do you best Van Halen and Jump. Kept things interesting.Overall happy with conditions considering it's March 22nd. 7 Quote

indiggio Posted March 23 Report Posted March 23 Stuck around for the season pass party that was very well attended and Blue did a very good job with it. When you registered, you got the typical drink ticket and raffle tickets as well as a new Blue mountain pom-pom ski cap! The party took over the entire upper level of the summit lodge, with the food in the big reception area and a band playing in the lounge. I failed to capture the name of the band, but had an attractive lead singer and played the typical party tune and did a good job at that. The food was all self-serve and consisted of a small salad bar, a pasta bar with pasta and tomato sauce and mac and cheese, a taco bar with all the fixings, a mashed potatoes bar with all sorts of toppings, a prime rib bar with horseradish sauce and a dessert bar with cookie and brownie trays. We didn't stick around for the raffle, as the snow started turning hero just before the party and returned to Razor bumps that we skied in earlier and had now softened. On a tip, we moved over to Coming Soon bumps that also turned hero and became the run of the day. The bumps were nice, big and round since they hadn't been skied much lately, which made for a heap of fun as the sun and blue skies unexpectedly appeared around 2pm, making for a fun spring skiing afternoon. 4 Quote
