Or does that not effect anything too much? I would imagine it's better to have the ground freeze first. The biggest issue they are facing now is the water bars which need to be covered up before they can open. Snowmaking may begin tonight! skifreak Posted October 26, 2005 Report Share Posted October 26, 2005 When you go to make snow, you want the ground to be frozen before you begin for the new season. If you don't later in the spring when it gets warm the snow will start to melt below and cause the snow on top to collapse. Worst case scenario, if enough melts on the bottom and the water is trapped it melts the rest of the snow. Sometimes I get a little iffy when Shawnee blows when they are under pressure when its been warm.
