Camelback Area Stay's

Hey all,

I'm new to the forum and relativly new to Camel Back. I've been riding there for about a year. I'm really excited about this upcomming season, but I'm worried about the time I can spend up there (especially with the gas prices so high) :banghead . I've got about a 2-3 hour commute depending on traffic and weather, which is a pain in the butt to say the least. You know, 2 hour drive on any randomn afternoon, 4 hours of sking, then another 2 hour drive back, seems a bit much when I want to come back and ski on the next morning.

I'm looking for a place that that I can stay at for like a night or 2 a week (throughout the season) without paying hotel prices (just as bad as gas). My uncle has some friends up at Hunter that have a ski cabin, they each pay like 20 a night per person to stay and they can come and go as they please. It's basically a place to sleep and stay warm at night. Then, they only have like a 20 minute ride to the mountain in the morning. It's works out great for everyone.

Anyone know of any places/people offering a simmilar deal? Or anything even close (really cheap local hotels ect...)? Any locals willing to give up heated space in a spare room for some extra cash (w/ references of course)? Any information anyone has would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all. :)

P.S. If you don't wanna post that info here for fear of bombardment... shoot me an email at mnich2@t*c*n*j*.edu (just remove the *'s)

Welcome Capt Morgan!!!. Any association with the Capt Morgan promo events? Watch this board for when me and my gang will be at CB and we can go from there. It appears that you only come on weekdays? You should be able to buddy up with a condo owner or somebody, that only use their place for the weekend. This board is great place to meet people who know people who know people kinda thing, which seems what you are looking for.

You can hope for random hookups...

:sex

heheheheheheh

But, yeah, pooling money and hitting the small motels is what some of my friends from down by you used to do. There are some really cheap motels away from CB which are okay, but you just don't ever leave valuables...Hey, Capt'n, do you by any chance have Doc Rockel for any classes?

Thanks for all the replies. I make like 2 or 3 trips a year out there with a bunch of friends, those days we usually stay in a hotel, it's the rest of the season when there is just me and or one of my friends. We are both college students so we get the College Student Season pass (no saturdays...). I usually like to be up as much as I can, usually Thursday nights, Fridays, Sat nights and Sundays. I don't have the time to do that everyweek but that would certainly be nice. :D

I actually have no official affiliation with the sponcered weekends, but the last february when they were there I won some cool stuff... that, and Captain Morgan is certainly a great drink. So me + the captain + camelback = ton of fun. I think I'll look into hooking up w/ someone who wants to make a lil' extra cash. Right now on a college budget, timeshares and hotels are just a tad out of my price range.

As for Doc Rockel, I didn't have the oppurtunity to have him, but a bunch of my buddies who are in the Bio program had him... How do you know him? You go to TCNJ?

If I can end up working something out about staying friday night into saturday, I am definitly going to let the ski patrol know. I've been an EMT for 6 years and recently certified Firefighter so... that stuff is kinda right up my ally. Thanks again all... See you around.

:pirate - got a lil captain in you?

He's my father-in-law. Better known as Road Kill Rockel for serving dead squirrels and other "found" oddities to his bio students. Welcome to PASR, btw!

Check your email. I am looking for a ride up to Camelback for Friday after work and comming back Sunday. I live and work in the Princeton area. I could help you out with $$ for gas.

Also I know some people who are buying a place up there and are trying to get the spare space rented. I don't think they are asking for a lot either.

I started ski patrolling there last year. To patrol you need to take the OEC course which is based on the basic EMT course but has special protocols for ski patrollers. The patrollers at CB are very cool and that is one of the main reasons I came here. They are always looking for people to patrol so feel free to stop by the patrol room.

Don't get me wrong, I really like patrolling but you guys (instructors) seem to have a lot of fun. Well when you aren't getting yelled at for hiking up the mountain above the closed lifts. :nono Doh!!!

I can honestly say the majority of the staff at Camelback is really nice. Anytime I needed a hand to take care of someone the rest of the staff always helped out. I even had a groomer go in the woods to get some guys ski one time at the top of the Stevenson.
