Ski Posted November 14, 2005 Report Posted November 14, 2005 (edited) Here's the link @skiracing.com BTW: the page says that OLN will have NO live or taped coverage this yearof ANY races. Which SUCKS. They are just having a series called "10 Weeks to Torino", with highlights of weekend races. Two years ago, OLN had full coverage of at least four races every week. Last season, they were down to two races. Now it's NONE. NBC will carry two races in December, then NOTHING until their usual post-production bullsh*t "sameday", heavily edited Olympic coverage. I have the SLC Games and you watch bib #2, then bib #8, then bib #13... Edited November 14, 2005 by ski999 Quote
romemadman Posted November 14, 2005 Report Posted November 14, 2005 that sucks even tho i ride i still like atching the racing everyonce ina while b/c it is the only thing for snow on oln Quote
snorovr Posted November 14, 2005 Report Posted November 14, 2005 I remember during the SLC Olympics NBC put the highlights and most watched events(figure skating) on their primetime coverage, and then had much more extensive coverage on MSNBC. Wonder if they are doing that again... Quote
sibhusky Posted November 14, 2005 Report Posted November 14, 2005 (edited) I always found ski racing on TV to be boring. First place might be 1:30 while 60th is like 1:32. Golf is actually my favorite sport to watch on TV. I wish they broadcast extreme competitions like the ones they have at Crested Butte and Valdez. GOLF?????? This is a joke, right? I admit if you don't ski, watching racers could be boring. But for a skier, watching the racers' technique, tactics, etc., is exciting for me. I have evolved over the years from preferring the downhill to preferring to watch slalom, maybe because for me, just trying to figure out where the course is in a forest of sticks is a major effort. (I can't even gatekeep slalom because I can't tell if the guy whacked the gate and went around or straddled it.) Edited November 14, 2005 by sibhusky Quote
Ski Posted November 14, 2005 Author Report Posted November 14, 2005 Golf? I can't even imagine NASCAR. The secret to getting into watching any sport is to know the athletes (er, drivers when it comes to car racing). A good example is boxing. If you just flip channels and come across the second round of a boxing match, it's like so what? But try catching the pre-fight setup, where they give a five minute bio of each boxer. That's also why they do so much pregame stuff before the Super Bowl, World Series, and NBA Finals, since the vast majority of viewers are seeing these teams for the first time and the networks try to make people pick and root for a team. lastduchess113 Posted November 14, 2005 Report Posted November 14, 2005 I can bring myself to watch almost any sport on TV. But I can't even watch golf in person. Hit the ball, get in the cart, chase the ball. Hit the ball, get in the cart, chase the ball. Skiing is a completely different matter. I don't have a clue about the racers because I don't follow it closely enough, but if I happen to flip past it and it's on, I can sit and watch for hours and hours. Quote
skigurl Posted November 14, 2005 Report Posted November 14, 2005 i watched it alll the time last yr, i've always been able to sit there and just star at it and watch it hrs on end Quote
