Glenn Posted November 26, 2005 Report Posted November 26, 2005 (edited) Before I go on a rampage... Does anyone have any personal experience with the Mount Peter Race team? I'm want to know if my encounter today was usual for their team, or perhaps it was just first day back excitement... I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt at the moment. Glenn Posted November 26, 2005 Author Report Posted November 26, 2005 oh oh what happened?? If others had similar experiences I'll share, I don't want to paint them as bad guys if this was a once and done thing.
skifreak Posted November 26, 2005 Report Posted November 26, 2005 Spit it out Glen, we want to hear your expirence!
Ski Posted November 26, 2005 Report Posted November 26, 2005 Ha, Mt. Peter kids? Well, that's in the town where SnowSnow is from, for anyone that remembers. The #1 internet psychotic wacko ever known. Mount Peter's team is a more low-key program than Windham, Hunter, or a lot of the others. They typically get trounced and are DFLers (dead f**king last). The vert is about 450ft and they have a lot of NYC kids. You can kind of do the math from that.
Glenn Posted November 26, 2005 Author Report Posted November 26, 2005 ... now it's over hyped. Anyways their team was at windham today, BLATENTLY cutting people off. It was lousy but, I got really pissed off when I was cut off but INCHES by a skier coming from my blind side in front of me then headed up hill to meet his friends. I think I may have it on video but I'm not sure. My life flashed before my eyes. I think I was probobly the last gate in a human slalom, and I was going to fast?!?! Anyways, I was gonna start yelling at him but he was too far up the trail (remember he turned to ski up the trail). Anyways Zaldon reports the same thing happening several times to him throughout the day, I can't imagine it was anyone other than the ski team, as no one else really seemed to have the ability to carve a turn.
skidude Posted November 27, 2005 Report Posted November 27, 2005 Hey, gotta have some fun It happens...Usually I don't cut too close to people who go fast..just those damn n00bs
Glenn Posted November 27, 2005 Author Report Posted November 27, 2005 Hey, gotta have some fun It happens...Usually I don't cut too close to people who go fast..just those damn n00bs It wasn't that he was going that close, its that I was moving forward and he came around in front of me heading directly across the trail, and turned up the trail when he was around me. If we had collided I would have been T-boning him. It would have been a VIOLENT crash.
skidude Posted November 27, 2005 Report Posted November 27, 2005 Well take that boy out of the gene pool...
skimom Posted November 28, 2005 Report Posted November 28, 2005 Wow, if the benevolent dthmtluncrn thinks these guys are jerks, there must be no hope.
Glenn Posted November 28, 2005 Author Report Posted November 28, 2005 Wow, if the benevolent dthmtluncrn thinks these guys are jerks, there must be no hope. Benevolent... I don't know about that. I hate on plenty of people. I understand crashes, coming close to people etc etc. It's sking, not everyone is in control all the time. Weird things happen. I don't understand going out of your way to endanger people. It wasn't just scare, it was endanger. If he lost his edge on that turn, or I started my turn earlier than he anticipated I would be in the hospitol right now. I don't care if you make poor decision that endanger yourself. I think you have the right to live your life how you want, but don't endanger me. ... I also don't like people who chew gum with their mouth open.
Papasteeze Posted November 28, 2005 Report Posted November 28, 2005 I saw a particular CAT team guy totally wipe out a 6 yr pizza wedge girl last season. I remember watching him whiz by me earlier runs and thinking there is an accident waiting to happen.. Sure enough...............Racers in general have a need for speed. It only takes one bad apple to spoil the whole bunch, unfortunate but true.
skidude Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 Who was that Rob? It happens, I almost took out a few people at stratton and hunter, but I didn't....stupid inside edges of the inside ski....

It would be nice to see a slope closed for a small amount of time to allow the racers to "rip". Belleayre Ski Patrol was cool after they met all of us. We would wait at thetop of the slope for it to clear out and then........
Glenn Posted November 29, 2005 Author Report Posted November 29, 2005 It would be nice to see a slope closed for a small amount of time to allow the racers to "rip". Err... I thought they closed Rocket for race practices?!?!? I thought they used the nastar area for closed gate training?!?!?
Timeless Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 (edited) Saw one of the CB "racers" take out a young girl on raceway last year because she started to turn just as he was "having fun" cutting in front of her a high speed ( and no she wasn't on the race course ). I don't understand the "fun" in carving up someone who's not as fast as you, that you don't know and who may not have the ability to recover from trying to avoid you. By all means play games with the people you ski / ride with but even noobs deserve a degree of understanding. That was you once.... Edited November 29, 2005 by Discordial

By all means play games with the people you ski / ride with but even noobs deserve a degree of understanding. That was you once.... CB has had this stupid dance going on for years. There's a race team, but no place for the kids to 'open' it up. Raceway is okay for training J4/5's (the youngest racers), but mostly a waste of time for J1/2's. Rocket would be perfect, but they get it for a very limited time. So you have a bunch of racers training on the mountain with a bunch of Rangers whistling at them to slow down. That possible trail someone mentioned that connected Nile Mile with Cliffy? How about some CAT parents with chainsaws and crowbars...problem solved.
skidude Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 Err... I thought they closed Rocket for race practices?!?!? I thought they used the nastar area for closed gate training?!?!? Would you believe, that even when we had rocket closed off (with fencing at the top, and closed signs) a ranger still came on the trail, and sat in the middle of the course. He then later said that we were out of control, and had to slow down. Also we get about 1.5 hrs on it (8, down by 930) once a week...Which is deffinatly better than nothing, but its not that much time. But we open it up on just about all the trails, so whatever
skierboi Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 we also do get the trail off big pocono sometimes to practice on and sometimes lower cleo for the brushes
skidude Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 Usually we get domidary (trail of big poc) when the snowboarders have there race on raceway. Last year was the first time I remember running brushes on Lower cleo, and that only happened because it was the only trail with enough snow, and not many people on it xmas week to set anything. I don't know if we were even 'allowed' to set them there....But it was hardly noticed by ski patrolers, as we were running brushes on a side trail, with snowguns blowing on it...
Papasteeze Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 That possible trail someone mentioned that connected Nile Mile with Cliffy? How about some CAT parents with chainsaws and crowbars...problem solved. I'd bull doze the whole mountain if they would let me
skidude Posted November 29, 2005 Report Posted November 29, 2005 I'd bull doze the whole mountain if they would let me Snowmaking would be a b*tch then... But why woudl you want a trail from NM to cliffy?
