sibhusky Posted December 13, 2005 Report Posted December 13, 2005 You are all too funny. Would Iceman let me wear a strange man's race suit? Hey, I thought he was letting you share hot tubs with strange men. A race suit is nothing compared to a hot tub. Quote

Metz the Jersey boy Posted December 14, 2005 Report Posted December 14, 2005 So anyways... whats a guy gotta do to get a piece of this racing action? Can I get in on this Mom/Atomic? You can adjust for age/gender.... Quote

You can adjust for age/gender.... If you go by NASTAR, 'Mom would get about a 17% handicap against Jeff. But the Jan. 22nd ASRA at Blue would be the best kind of race... Quote
skimom Posted December 15, 2005 Report Posted December 15, 2005 If you go by NASTAR, 'Mom would get about a 17% handicap against Jeff. Huh? How do you get this figure? The scales aren't linear. If we won different medals, the faster skier would be the one with the higher medal. If we won the same medal, the winner would be the one who's handicap was (percentage wise) closer to the next higher medal. Right? Quote

Take the gold medal HC range for your age/gender, which is 22 to 36 and the same for Jeff, which is 9 to 15. The mid-point for you is 29, while his mid-point is 12. So considering you are both expert skiers, then you get a 17% HC. I'm not sure how to create a more fair HC... Quote

Can't wait for the TWO dual GS's at Blue this year, hopefully it doesn't get powder-ed out like it did last year Quote
Ski Posted December 15, 2005 Author Report Posted December 15, 2005 I want in on that race. Is that an Asra race? Yep. And Blue's race dpt sets one of the best courses you could imagine. Quote
AtomicSkier Posted December 15, 2005 Report Posted December 15, 2005 I want in on that race. Is that an Asra race? Yup! There are two of them this year, the first one in late January. You need to do some NASTAR first, cause the ASRA course at Blue is a little tougher then NASTAR Quote
Ski Posted December 15, 2005 Author Report Posted December 15, 2005 Can't wait for the TWO dual GS's at Blue this year, hopefully it doesn't get powder-ed out like it did last year Yeah, I skipped the Roundtop one on that Saturday because the blizzard was coming in, then it snowed-out Sunday's ASRA at Blue. As I said, snow sucks. Yup! There are two of them this year, the first one in late January. You need to do some NASTAR first, cause the ASRA course at Blue is a little tougher then NASTAR Doug def has the personality for adult racing. You'll becoming addicted in no time. Quote
iceman Posted December 15, 2005 Report Posted December 15, 2005 (edited) It's part my formula. Let's just use the medals, or how far (percentagewise) through the medal zone a racer is. Doug: ASRA is terrific, but the snow at Blue isn't that good, and the lift lines go on forever. Atomic and '999 may love it, but there are plenty of folks who target other courses. MC is much better - it has good snow and a really nice pitch. Roundtop is set by pros and is fun to ski even though it's out of the way. Many people like Belleayre's GS race best - it's one of the few where the race spans the entire mountain. Ask SKidude what he thinks of Blue... ha,ha, guess who must have logged on to this computer... Edited December 15, 2005 by iceman Quote
skimom Posted December 15, 2005 Report Posted December 15, 2005 (edited) I'm not buying a used race suit from play it again sports like skimom though,.,,,, . Where do y'all buy speedsuits? What kind of money do they go for? Huh? I don't get any of this... yeech...I never bought a used race suit. You may still be able to buy last years race suits for a discount. Try ARTECH, and if that fails try RELIABLE RACING or SCHNEIDER. They are in the hundreds new, but previous models are much less. The best skis are slalom carvers - something a little shorter than GS. The 'dude uses his SL skis unless the course is really straight. I almost always use my trusty P50 SL skis. Edited December 15, 2005 by skimom Quote
Ski Posted December 15, 2005 Author Report Posted December 15, 2005 It will make a small ski area like Blue alot more exciting. Exactly! Just like BC's park makes them rival New England resorts for the fun kids have... Quote
