Totally awesome, but not unexpected. The Siblet is amazing - All she needed was a little favorable karma to prove herself.

Please tell me there were pics... right, Sibby - you took pics????

I wasn't there. I hear there are pictures somewhere, but she's out snowshoeing now and I can't ask her where they are.

YAY!!!

I was talking with a girl from an accadimy who at one point was under 100 points. Which I find ammusing since the penalty was like 150 for girls.

Anyway I guess now I gotta learn how to ski and do the same thing ;)

Okay, found the pictures online, but too tough to swipe them, etc. Here are the links:

Second Run of GS

First Run of SL

And another shot of that run

The pictures aren't that great and they want a LOT of money for them.

:)

Well, I did that (saved them to my disk), but the erasing of the photo copyright was too time consuming. I figured if I was gonna leave it on there, best to send people to the site itself. But thanks.

Plus, it might upset ski999 to know I steal pictures from photographers. ;)

Hell no, Glenn beat me to it. I was Photoshopping out the Photoreflect...

Just view source and look for this:

</script>

<table border="0">

<tr>

<td><img name="photo" src="/scripts/prpv.dll?photo?s=0&i=20CD098N000011&p=099AFF3A74854A2AE5FD35764E0DFE8C01EDA6DBBB90B703AAB04F5B6311D460" width="400" height="264" border="0" hspace="0" vspace="0" onMouseDown="alert('This photo is copyrighted by Crystal Images')"></td>

</tr>

</table>

Then add: http://www.photoreflect.com to the "src", so you get

http://www.photoreflect.com/scripts/prpv.d...AB04F5B6311D460

And voila!

PS:

Only in theory, of course.

... or you have your browser customized with right mouse-enablers that bypass those silly things. :)

Spending time to remove the water mark is not worth it IMHO. Spending $20 for a 5x7 isn't worth it either. Just wanted to make sure you had the opportunity to have your own copy.

For the Park City pic last winter, I sent in the money because the shot was amazing. But these aren't. Also, I think for $20 I got an 8 by 10 for the PC one.

She looks amazing, btw.

She felt she skied fairly badly on some run or other, but in the videos she saw of said run apparently her line was dead on and one of the other (better) girls commented on it.

Oddly, most of the kids from our team did well, EXCEPT for three of the four "super stars". And the MSU NCAA girls were either no shows or hiked or fell.

Siblet looks great - she must have had lots of dryland training...

Only on her own. She went to the weight room in her dorm regularly, did some hiking, step aerobics, kick boxing, running, etc. when she could fit it in with her homework. She admits to feeling the lack of a true program at the bottom of the course, but at least she's on snow for the three weeks she is home.

Next race is a FIS-University invitational back at Big Sky.

I'll try to do it simply...I haven't tried explaining it in a long time, so I may miss some stuff.

Say you are just starting out as a USSA racer and are 15 yrs old, which is a J2. That's really where competitive racing begins.

You enter a race and are given a bib number that puts you at the end of the line. The earlier you start, the better the course is, so you are the most disadvantaged spot. Remember when 'Dude was "chasing points" by going to race in NY earlier in December? That was him trying to earn lower points, because the lower your points, the lower your bib number is---or starting number.

The top racers all have a point "profile". That's their "numbers". It's the average of their two best races in each dicipline. So in any given race, you take the top racers and how they finished in that race. It's better to have fast racers in your race, because every race has a "Race Penalty" and if you are in a race with the best, then the penalty that is applied is lower. Say you are a golfer and Tiger Woods is playing. It gives you a chance to be close to Tiger Woods. If the top racers all have 30 points coming in, then if you beat them all and win the race, you have a chance of coming away from a race with 30 points.

So it doesn't matter what place you finish in a race. It matters how close your time was to the fastest skiers.

Here it is summed up: Your points that you earn that day are the race points you earned that day by how close you are to the winning time PLUS the penalty points applied to that race, which is calculated by how well the top racers coming into it finished.

If all the top racers fall, it's a bad thing. The race penalty number goes up.

I'd guess that a Montana race would have about a 40 point penalty (as opposed to a 100 point penalty in PA). Siblet would then have had about 55 race points to earn that 95. If she'd have won the race, she'd have 40 points...if she was last she'd probably have had close to 300 points.
